600 or so T213-2 Coupon cards is a very impressive amount of an issue that is not seen on a regular basis.

Thanks for the kind words on the auction guys. Yes, I ask for two hobby references when registering for the auction, with other auction houses being the best reference, but also major dealers.

Were those T213-2's from the Fritsch collection? He's the only collector I've known that would have dozens of the same rare card. Like 12 T213-2 Dubuc's or whatever.

I grabbed the Baker NY. Down to 3.

Anyone else grab a few?

The T213 Quinn - Vernon went for almost 4K - I had no idea it was that much of a rarity.

His Vernon variation has only been graded twice by PSA (I have not checked SGC), so I assume it was bumped up by the low-pop crowd.

There was a handful of pop 1-3 t213s that sold for a couple hundred bucks.

Weird to see that one go for so much IMO

I was in the running for the red Cobb that was torn off above his head, but it went a bit higher than I was willing to go in extended bidding. Great auction!

Great pick up, Mac. I usually don't like pieces missing but that one doesn't bother me too much. I think it's because it'a really great image of him on front.

I thought it was a shame to break up that group of T213-2s. I would have bid on a big lot, but going piece by piece was annoying (i have a group of 70 i bought in REA, love these). And they were alphabetized by first name? Or what? Hard to make it through. (And then i had a dinner in the extended bidding…ugh). I wound up with nothing, decided either I commit to going for most of them or not. It was too hard to manage all of the lots. There were some lucky winners, we won’t see a group like that again. The colors on these are amazing compared to t206s.

I did buy two nice T207s, there were some nice low-pops of those, too, that weren’t crazy.

Nice pick up with that Cobb Mac.

I bid on several lots but ended up with three wins as I completely forgot to go back and watch the extended bidding on all the other lots I had bid on. I ended up two T205s, one upgrade and one NY Giants (Crandall with T crossed) that I needed for my team set. And I picked up the T207 Ferry because it mentions his time with the Jersey City Skeeters in 1910 so I'm considering it part of my Jersey City team collection.

This was a fun one to peruse and bid on with so many choices.

Congrats to all the winners.

I’m bummed I didn’t see this thread until yesterday. I missed out on the T213-2 Chattanooga Elberfeld that I’ve been hunting for the last 3 years. Looks like it was an awesome auction!

I ended up with one T207 and 3 T205 - all low grade commons.

I'm not really pursuing tobacco cards other than those of Cleveland players. But earlier in the week I looked at the auction and saw the large majority of the T206 and T205 lots at or just above the minimum of $10.

I placed a large quantity of bids designed to get me to about $20 a card - way below what they should go for - as that will about equate the grading fee.

As expected the bidding picked up as we approached the end of the auction and I really didn't get any super bargain cards - I had about a 2% success rate on bids.

A really fun auction to bid on and follow.

Quinn Vernon is hard to find. When I had 15 to go, it was still on my want list.

I wanted to upgrade my Thomas Phila. Here is my copy. Although it has a damaged caption, you can see the name "Thomas" is further to the right than the "Philadelphia" cards. I paid like $20 bucks on eBay. It was noted as "Philadelphia" by mistake. It was a fist-pump day for me, like Kirk Gibson or something. ha-ha.

Default An unusual auction, indeed.

So many individual T213's and T207's, including a bunch of Napoleons - the most I can remember in any auction since I've been actively collecting.

Bid on many, but only picked up a couple ... including 1 off my long want list which now stands at 34...

Excellent auction. I was able to upgrade 20 cards in my T207 set for a very reasonable price.

Agree that this was a great auction! Tons of selection and decent prices. Was able to nab a t213 Herzog (B on shirt) Sure wish I could have made a run at the Green Cobb. Still working on building up the funds for that one.

Just started collecting T213s again after having sold all my type 2s and a complete set of creaseless type 3s to Bill Mastro in the late 90s for peanuts compared to what they sell for now.
I managed to win 45 T213s in the Collect auction so together with 20 I bought during the last month, I have a good start. I needed a new journey but I sure picked a tough one.

You and I must have been going against each other on several cards because I ended up winning 43 T213s. I have bought about ten others this week, so also pleased with my start. I stopped working on my B18 set to pursue this one.

Best of luck in finding the rest!

Thanks Michael, good luck to you also. Yes we probably were butting heads on some of the cards. It had been so long, mid 1980's, since I had the near set that I had forgotten which cards were really tough and missed out on some real deals on scarce cards at reasonable prices. I was happy with what I won though.
Bob
