Default Anyone got a '51 Bowman Bob Hooper in PSA 9?

Apparently this is now a $10,000+ card (Goodwin Lot 357)...

Considering that a PSA 8 just sold on Ebay for $27.00, I think I'd opt for that one and spend the other $9,996.00 elsewhere.

I sure hope Jeff L (Calvindog) over on the PreWar Board sees this! He just LOVES the prices Goodwin seems to realize!!

Well, this is the only "9" with no 10's of old Bob so it smells of a registry war. My guess is this allowed someone to move up from #3 to #2 or 2 to 1 on the registry or something crazy like that. To each his/her own I always say.

Hi Michael,

For sure that is what was behind that. I know there are a lot of personal choices in this hobby, and I sure would not want to have to answer for some of mine.

But you have my permission to have me committed if I ever buy a 1950s common for $10K+ when one very subjective grade lower costs $27.

Insanity at it's finest that I will never understand other than that someone has way to much money to play with. What a waste and very tempting for someone at the grading companies to make a small fortune on the side simply by taking a nice 8 and bumping it up. I have seen enough 7, 8, and 9's to realize you can't tell the difference between any of them, that is why I love 4,5, and 6 with the occasional 7. One person's trash is anothers treasure !
