Default Brian Cat, a slightly different perspective

FYI -- when I was still at Beckett earlier this year, Brian sent me at least 10 checklists with scans of material not in our Almanac.

We can tease about his videos but he has contributed to both us and Krause. (I remember reading Bob Lemke noting many of his findings in SCD)

Regards
Rich

I couldn't care less about his cheesy videos. It's his completely unprofessional matter of making transactions (bordering on unethical in my personal experience) and overgrading of material that I have issues with. The world is full of pompous asses, and this hobby is certainly no exception. That Brian falls into that category is hardly noteworthy.

Sort of on a level with Mr Mint. He may have helped the hobby to explode in the 80s, but it doesn't mean we have to like the guy.

I can live with the pompous part, it's the ethics he uses in selling cards I object to. He is not truthful.

The time or two I have spoken with him in person he seemed eager and young, "brash" too....I am not sure if he is trying to be the way he is or is just that way normally and not trying to be a mean guy. My conversations with him have always been pleasant. I know that is not the case with some others... I won something from him on ebay, a year or two ago, told him about 5 days after the auction that I had spaced it, and was putting a check in the mail the next day. The item was under $40.00. The next day I got a non-paying bidder notice from ebay from him. I wasn't too happy....and this is after I knew him a bit personally and he responded back "ok" from my email....oh well....
