Laughlin cards are great. One of the first cards I ever collected other than Topps(in late 1970's). They used to sell them at a place called the TOBACCO SHOP in South Miami. It was great, the smell of pipe tobacco in the air as I rummaged around through the boxes of cards.

Default Mixed bag

Good prices on all of these. The Becker blank back was a welcome addition to my T207 set.

Yeah, they're generic as hell, and there's no reason at all that I should love 'em....But I do... I've got a good number of the '74's, but the '78 rarely seem to come up cheap...Finally, happy to have a '78..Someday, once I'm finished with the HOF collection, I may end up putting both Laughlin sets together..

Thanks Tony A. for putting these cards on ebay and helping me get closer on this impossible huge set.

Default Some Silks

I bought these with the intention of flipping them, but when examined under the light the silk glimmers and the image of the player seems to come alive. I may have another collecting focus...

Best regards,

Joe

Hi Jason, thanks for the nice comments I am about 75% done with completing the set. Still aways to go but getting some super deals on 8th series cards sure helped. I saw these at the National going for 3x what I paid for them in this grade. Meanwhile 6th and 7th series cards continue to draw strong bidding interest and high prices.
Hi Mike! Let me know when you are coming through again, I thoroughly enjoyed lunch and talking cards.

An upgrade to my current one.....this made the top 3 of the hotly debated logo on the Net54baseball T-Shirts. But in the end it was Ty that made it. A classic pose of Cy nonetheless..

Looks like August is turning out to be a nice month for pick ups.
Enjoyed looking through the thread. Espeially enjoyed dixon1208's e101 Matty, jp1216's Ray Chapman, and tbob's t210 group.

Default with thanks to Trae

who pointed me in the direction of this card, which became #185 in the rebuilt collection.
185 Lumley
Although I've never actually bought a card from Trae, he is directly responsible for 31 of the cards in my collection.

And thanks to all who keep an eye out for these for me.

Nice T210s, Jason.

Does anyone know anything about the T210 Skydash Collection? Was Skydash the original owner of the set?

Fairly certain Skydash was a board member who consigned a large find, he originally came here under the pretense that it was his wife's late grandfathers collection. Some amazing t206s & tin tops. Google him and you can read the whole story.

The whole Skydash thing was kind of odd. I know the cards I have in Lionel Carter and Frank Nagy slabs will stay that way forever but I can't wait to crack and resubmit the cards I won in the "Skydash" collection

why not? he's not a hobby pioneer (or even a collector that cares anything about cards), just some dude that got lucky and cashed in.

I feel the same way Bob does and I would do the same thing. It is not personal at all, but if memory serves this was a fantastic find by a non-hobby guy. A one off if you will... Nothing to see here, moving on...

Default offermanns

I don't think I posted these yet. Picked them up at the Nat'l. They are Offermann Published PCs of Buffalo Bison Players from 1908. Similar in look to the American League Publishing set from CLeveland. I'm looking to complete this Offermann set which currently has 19 catalogued players. I've now got 7. Anybody got any others?

More beaters. A couple of HOF rookies for the collection, plus a Bresnahan(I know the Ferrell isn't his rookie, but it is his first individual card)...And of course, another amputee 1888 R&S(Only Baltimore and Chicago to go). At least this one hasn't been beheaded..

Default nice ones so far

Some nice pickups this month, so far, guys!!! Here is a Krause I worked a trade out for, with Scott Mt.J@y. I find it very enjoyable to still be able to do lots of trades where both parties are happy. Our Net54baseball family is a good one to deal with, overall. best regards (E90-2 came from the BST a long time ago)

Default Not an August Pick-Up, but...

I had this EPDG Chase slabbed...I'll likely move it since I got it for a pretty decent price and put it towards one in better condition...my real reason for posting though was because SGC graded on site in White Plains this weekend...what a great service to be able to offer. Hope they keep doing it...

Back image is from before it being slabbed...

Default Recent PSA Batch..

Funny how getting cards back from grading is like getting new cards (some were new pickups)...

Default August rarity

Hey gang,

It's been a few years since I've poked my head into the net54 board. Anyways, I managed to track down a fairly decent card this month. Don't call it a comeback..
