I picked up a copy recently and was reasonably impressed. Unlike the regular monthly and bi-monthly Beckett price guides, the prices seemed mostly accurate (from my experience at least). They seem to have done their homework both on ebay and major auction houses (they mention REA and Mastro, among others) and this seems to be reflected in accurate market values. |

Do they cover a broad range of sets? or do they stick to the big issues? |

This Beckett's has been sold out at the local Border's. However, I don't see it on too many periodical racks. I suppose Beckett's is just doing test marketing at this time. |

In the Bay Area, I've seen the Premier Issue in local Fry's Electronics store. Has there been more than one issue? |

Summer of 2007 is the first issue, has Mantle on the cover. It will be a quarterly issue. Tonight I met up with great local dealer I do a lot of business with. He had never seen it and thought it may be better than the SMR in some aspects because it shows value on lower cards such as 2's and 3's. As a dealer he finds this more usefull than needing the price on a 8 or 9 Cobb. |

Just curious why would people want to get this when you can get all the values on a online site? One that covers all the values up to the minute and covers all grades and 4 grading companies. |

I agree it is nice to have something in your hand for shows to reference. That is why we are working on a version of the site so that you will be able to access the site on your PDA. It should be here soon but not before the National, if you need any prices we will be there and will gladly help you out. |

It is handy to have a printed, portable guide with general price levels. |

uh oh !. does anybody remember cpu?, card price update, everyone had this in their hands when they were negotiating with a dealer, 20 years or so ago, i remember john broggi owner of (jkj sports collectibles ), said, "why anyone would want to carry around printed toilet paper is beyond me", lol, will this be the new cpu for guys who collect graded cards? oh lordy !!. no matter how extensive and accurate it may be there always will be a percentage of cards that move way to fast to keep up with. will it be good or bad who can tell? we will have to see........ |

jim, i found a few old copies last month packed away in a box along with b.b.hobby news, can't forget that one, along with the #1-10 the beckett price guide, nm/mt m. mantle for $5, lol, ..........al....i would imagine it's worth 9.99 just for the articles, c'mon you barley get 3 gal. of gas for $9.99, i don't think the price will be a deterent, if they can do a bettert job of true price reflection than smr then who knows? this just might be nice..... |

hi bobby, i should have been more accurate, pls refer to my previous post, my thoughts exactly, it can stay close with cards that move at a snails pace, but no not with the fast action cards, this includes low pop commons that are priced all over the place each year, and to think before the registry you could have bought commons for alot of years at pennies on the dollar compared to star cards, fresh 1960's vending at 25 cents a card! no!, oh yes, and nm/mt 1950's at the same, a little more from 1956 on down, did anybody attend the early 1980's marriott show in freehold n.j. i think off rt. 536, 1981-85? mr. mint right there as soon as you popped your head in, i built most of my 50's topps sets there, loooong gone !!! and never to be duplicated at that price, can't dwell just go with the flow... |
