Default So who was better (Pignatano or Dalrymple)....

.....for those who have decided about Kaline and Clemente.

Both have 9 letters in their name.

Both have zero MVPs

Pignatano hit .234
Dalrymple hit .233

Dalrymple career OPS+ was 85
Pignatano career OPS+ was 83

I never got Dalrymple's autograph,
but Pignatano signed for me

Both were overrated IMO. Brooklyn fans in particular tend to overrate their own and even more so when they are of Italian heritage. That said, had either man played longer, his stat totals would have been greater. And Chavez Ravine likely deprived Pignatano of at least 3 more HR.

Dalrymple has more card variations. But Pignatano’s 59 card is better looking than any of Dalrymple’s cards

Respectfully, you moron, Pignatano hit 8 home runs in the Coliseum. All were "Moon" shots to left field. Pignatano was playing in Kansas City when Chavez Ravine opened in April 1962. Are you up to date on your medication? I hoping for a civil discussion based on fact, not bogus assumptions.

Moot point, Al
Their cards are visually worthless.

Even as we speak he is preparing trivia to which the wrong answer is the right one.

If I were to answer the question seriously, I’d say it was Dalrymple…..and it’s not even close.

….but I’m not going to do that. Instead I’m going to say that Joe Shlabotnik would take them both out to the woodshed, and wouldn’t bring them back until they both promised to add another letter to their last names, and convinced them that OPS stood for “One Poor Sap”.

So far I would have to give the nod to “Piggy”.

Better nickname and no contest (yet) in legibility comparison.

Another factor that many here value is the number of WS rings a player has.

Again it’s a shutout, Piggy 1 and Clay 0

Clay gets my vote for attempting to change his last name to "Cassius" in 1965.

Got it.

So Piggy was adversely affected by Chavez Ravine because he struck out two times in New York.

Great research Pete.

You may be missing the point son. They both played in this tilt.

Dalrymple struck out once in the game and Pignatano twice, so you are saying that Dalrymple is better. Father please accept my lack of insight as the human failing of a mere mortal.
