Default 1800s belt buckle info?

I got a call from a gentleman today asking for more info on this belt buckle that he found while metal detecting. To me it looks like later 1800s and I put a value of around $100 on it.....but actually, I told him and a friend that our board members would probably know a lot more and I could be way off.....So, any info on this, or guesses as to what, where, value etc...would be appreciated. He is not looking to sell it at this time. It does have a belt buckle type clasp? or appendage on the back of it. best regards

My gut tells me it's a 50's-60's era child's belt buckle with a ton of corrosion due to where it was found. Very little if any value.

I could be wrong though.

Interesting Dave....so you think it's post war and was a kids buckle? I know type cards fairly well, belt buckles, obviously not as well .

I might have to agree with Dave. The baseball and stitching pattern look more like a ball from the last fifty years.

Default Buckle

I agree, it looks like a well aged 1950s variation.

Leon,

Is there any way you can post a picture of the back?

I only had that one scan sent to me. It sounds like the consensus is a kids type buckle from Post War era though. Is there any chance it's something else? After thinking of it in those terms it does look like it.

A friend of mine came by and looked at the buckle. He said it was a kids buckle form the 50's. It was used by the Dixie league. I am sure you all know why the Dixie league didn't last very long. Thanks for all of your input.
