Here are some, picked up a quite a few more OBAK's but won't clog the board with them. Not a good scan, but ungraded is 1909 Browning OBAK. I like the Skeels best, played 1 game in the Majors 1910 which was with Detroit. Pitched 6 innings, 9 hits, 4 BB, 2 strikeouts, ERA 12.00, but won the game, Major League record 1-0.

Hey Joe,
You forgot to mention his 3 at bats with a perfect 0.000 batting avg. I like Skeels too.

While not my normal focus, the following non-Detroit item piqued my interest. The errant back notations (Buck Ewing & John Vaughn) and lack of information on the initial listing likely diverted some of my competition .

However, before the auction closed, the seller was able to share information provided by Tom Shieber, Curator of New Media, National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, as follows:

Well ... sometimes you catch a break. In this case, I was able to make good headway. There's no doubt in my mind that the players pictured are catcher Harry "Farmer" Vaughn and pitcher John Ewing with Memphis of the Southern League in 1888. For some reason the reverse of the card has both names listed incorrectly as "John Vaughn" and "Buck Ewing."

In June of 1888, the battery of Vaughn and Ewing was purchased from Memphis by Louisville (AA) for $800. Since Farmer Vaughn played only half a season with Memphis in 1888, I can only assume that this photo was taken during the first half of that season. For some corroborating pictures, refer to the following sources . . . (deleted) Note that John Ewing was little brother to the more famous Buck Ewing. Hope this helps. - Tom

So, I guess this would be a minor league card of Buck Ewing's little brother John who would go on to pitch 4 seasons. Farmer Vaughn would however prove to be the more talented player. Farmer stayed with Louisville through 1889, would jump to the New York Giants PL team along with John Ewing but was later traded to Cincinnati where he stayed until retiring in 1899. In all, a 13 year career mostly behind the plate. Both players have several Old Judge cards (poses).

A neat pitcher/catcher cabinet.

BTW, one of Tom Shieber sources listed shows a photo of both Ewing & Vaughn with Louisville in 1889 (Ewing in windup). The source is Philip Von Borries' "Louisville Diamonds". I'd like to hear from anyone who might have access to this. Thanks!

edit - Update to thank Kevin Cummings, Tom Boblitt, and others who sent additional information on this cabinet including scans. For the record, John Ewing is partially seated & Farmer Vaughn is standing. Thanks!

Regards,
Joe Gonsowski

Not that recent but first time showing. Joe is in upper left corner. Large 12.5 x 19" piece. Just like the glossy T200 premiums.

There is only 1; thought I'd present it larger scale since it is the key card and so tough to find. It is on the way to SGC with the rest of them. Now, if you have an E78 Sammy Berger And Jim Jeffries to dangle as trade bait, we can deal...

Great looking card Ben - amazing what a difference a scan can make - I held off on that card b/c I thought it was probably fake (which clearly is not the case).

Adam, I was watching those e77s on the ebay auction "auction" and never put in a bid, thinking they would out my range -- boy was I wrong -- nice pick ups

Mr. Young has been liberated and can breath once more:

And ol' Packey was removed from matt and frame with much sucess:

I picked up another B18 catcher, Ainsmith with brown bases. I only need one more B18, Agnew with purple base paths to complete my run of catchers with the white infield.

I also picked up a Series 1 T210 Old Mill card, Wells, Savanah.

Unfortunately, the T210 had part of the right border chip as I broke it out GAI holder.

I picked up these T206 commons at the show in RI today for $20 a piece. The colors on these are amazing (scan doesn't do them justice). Only reason I can see that they all got a 2.5 grade is due to the small green tape stain on the back top of every single one of them. Had it not been for that they probably would have all graded at least 3 or 4... but I would've paid much more for them.
I particularly like the Overall portrait...

please make the scans smaller (moderator dude)

Sorry moderator dude... I made 'em thumbnails.

caught me a little by surprise as well. the underbidder cost me a lot of money. it does have a miners back which is a bit tougher - particularly uncreased from what I have been told. I was hoping to get it about $300 cheaper.
