Just picked this up off ebay tonight...wanted it for a while. Has a Sovereign back. A good example IMO of a card going for a little less because of the holder it is in. Fine by me!

Just came in the mail on Friday. Very excited. Not the prettiest card, but at least I have one.

Steve,

Nice pick up.
Are you putting together another set of the C46's?

Thanks,

Andy

Just picked up this ex-mt polar bear. I think they are much tougher in higher grades, and arent quite getting their due...

Branching out to assemble a Cubs type-card collection of sorts when I run into T206 dry spells...was surprised to hit on both of these last night, ...but delighted nonetheless...

No, I'm not actively building another C46 set. Just picking up a few bargains here and there. I do however really like the set but my priorities are elsewhere right now.

Upgraded my Walsh to a beautiful SGC 40, Thanks, Herb!
Perfectly registered back stamp on this one, too.

I was going to bid on your schlafly card when it was on ebay , but the seller never got back to me. I wanted to know what the heck " No bleed" meant. Could you figure it out? I never saw that one before...

Scot -

Glad that still has the writing on the back, very nice issue to have a HOFer from.

Doug, that means that none of the printing process bled outside of the black border that contains the player image within. In my opinion the cards are much more appealing when they haven't "bled".

If you look at the T206 in your collection you will likely find very man that are "bleeding". The Powell and Overall I posted above are slight examples of bleeding. If you look closely around the borders you will see some of the print is off by just a little bit causing some of it to be outside of the border constraints.

Thanks Trae:
That makes sense. I've never seen the phrase used on any graded card. I agree with you, many a card's registration is off to some extent. Love this forum, I learn something new every day. Thanks for sharing that information.

In my opinion, the e121 Herpolsheimer's are a very under appreciated set of cards. I think there are only 15 or 16 HOFers and most of those probably won't see the light of day for a while. Nice pick up Scot.

Doug, ironically, I just noticed there is a very-very small bleed on this card, although it's still super appealing in my opinion and I will definitely keep it.

Barry, my not so secret Santa for the Texas Tommy was REA. I'm not going to divulge the source of the Western Playground card I posted a few days ago. Let's just say that I made the owner an offer he couldn't refuse.

Jeff, I don't know if the Snodgrass is a 1 of 1 or not. It may well be. For me, it's a 1 of 2. I now have one Texas Tommy Type 1 and one Texas Tommy Type 2. I'm content to stop there.

Try to find another one. It's one tough card.............
Thanks to Gary N on this one. I truly appreciate it

Been picking up a few things lately - a lot of stuff right in my focus has been appearing on ebay. Or maybe consolation prizes for my Mastro and REA shut-outs?

Cool cool piece. And thank you to Dan who tipped me to the auction - it was in an ebay category that I wasn't searching (but am now!). I'm thrilled to have this one:

The Schmidt from dennis on BST, and the others from ebay. The E96 Mullin was from Bruce MacPherson via ebay - I really like running into Net54'ers on ebay. Both PC's from Dan Yaw - gtp.ro on ebay. All very cool.

Joann,

Isn't that the Bloomer Girl team that Joe Wood played for? In Glory of their Times, Wood states that he played for a team called the Bloomer Girls, most of which were really men in wigs. Im pretty sure that is the same picture as the one in the book.

Everybody gets that bug- I was the same way in my collecting heydey- I think that's what eventually got me to kick the habit. It's worse than the DT's.

Josh,

I've never seen the Glory of Their Times so I'm not familiar with that photo. I'll have to try to check it out. I think the Boston Bloomers and Star Bloomers were teams in the late 1890's and early 1900's, and then the Western Bloomers started ~1911 and was maybe a loose league or group of teams, all called Western Bloomers? I'm not sure, but I think that's how it went.

I've heard Wood got his start on one of the various Bloomer teams, but didn't really know which one. I'll definitely have to find a copy of Glory of Their Times.

Thx for the tip!

J
