Default E98 Anonymous set of 30

Posted By: Shawn

I have lately become somewhat interested in this set. It appears to be one of the more affordable caramel sets to go after as opposed to the E94 George Close set I was originally looking at. Are there any members here who actively collect this set? Anybody have complete sets? Can anybody give me a ballpark on what it may cost to put together a very low-grade complete set? Obviously there are the big five in the set which will run high, I understand that.

Thanks

Dave F. will chime in...he is close to completing the set with help from a bunch of us.

It is becoming a popular set to collect since the prices are somewhat reasonable but as with any set supply and demand always come in to play.

the e98s r like a poor man's version of the e94s...although don't get too caught up in the talks.

if u want an affordable readily-available caramel set go with the e93s...lots of hof'ers and presents much better color-wise (imo). u won't also have to pay some steep premiums for a couple scarce commons either.

Mark-
Close might be stretching it...6 away and unfortunately Mr. Cobb and Mr. Wagner remain to be had.

Shawn,
You have my number give me a call if you have any other questions about the set, I'll help with what little I know.

Dave

Shawn,

Also there are a few others on here that are much more experienced with the set than I am. Maybe one or two of them can chime in for you. As far as your question on what it cost to complete a beater set or low grade set...I can let you know when I'm done

There was a thread put in the archive center dealing with the cards in the set in terms of difficulty you could find interesting.

Dave

E98 and E93 run for roughly the same prices and roughly about equally as tough. Both are great looking sets, but E93 has the edge in my book due to the beautiful colors, which utilize shades and fades and multiple colors as opposed to simple solid backgrounds.

When are you going to upgrade? I think there is a miniscule spec of paper somewhere on one of them that could be microscopically out of place...

I know most like the HOFers but I would take that Leach first. That is one beautiful card!
