Default 1962 Salada Minoso

Hi. Bought some Salada coins and don't know too much about them. I have a Minoso - the White Sox variation. It is on a red button. I haven't seen a red button on either Minoso variation. Anyone know if there is a red button variation? ...or is it likely that the cardboard disk was relocated from a black button into a red button? Any info would help. Thank you in advance... JB

Hey JB:

There are two possibilities. As you note it is possible for the paper coin to have been taken out of one color shell and inserted in another. This is what most people think.

However you can see proof below in the unopened package that they did issue some coins in "wrong" color shells. I have some of the Salada company records having to do with the coin promotion and at one point they had quality control issues with some color shells mostly the black ones so they did issue coins in different color shells.

Hope this answers your question.

Fred

Good information. I just sold it with full disclosure. It went pretty fast so I assume it was legit and not a shell replacement. Thank you for taking the time to help me... JB

I will have to confess that for my personal Cubs collection I put a Richie Ashburn disc originally with a 200 back red plastic coin into a 180 back red plastic coin from a common player because I gave up tying to find a Ashburn 180 back. If I ever sell it I will disclose it.
