Default Clemente Autograph on Yearbook Photos PSA

I am possibly interested in purchasing a photograph from some yearbook/program with an authentic Clemente auto running up the side. PSA/DNA has graded it authentic (AUTH) with no grade assigned. The auto is in blue ink with pink thread running through the auto, some kind of double-inked pen. The photo was cut out of some program, not sure what, and the left side has jagged edges. The photo below is very similar to the one the piece I am referring to, but again, this signed artifact is NOT a card but a cut-out pic.

Any idea of the market value of something like this? I don't think you will find another one like this for comparison as this truly is a 1 of a Kind collectible. However, it only garnered an AUTH grade and therefore perhaps I shouldn't overpay. What do you think in terms of value? Thanks for your thoughts, -Pat

Pat,

Without any pictures it's hard to say. Even though PSA graded AUTH, without seeing the signature, it's hard to offer an opinion. It's possible PSA got the authentication wrong. What's the quality of the sig, what is the size of the photo, why is there possibly 2 types of ink (was it re-traced)??? These are all questions that we don't know. If the sig is legit, then the value lies in the quality of the signature, size of photo, etc.

If it's a nice sig but on a small mag or yearbook cut-out photo, perhaps the value would be in the $300-$500 range. I've seen some nice auth 8x10s sell for over $1000. It just depends on what the item is and if the sig is legit.

If you could post a photo, it would help.

Default Thanks...

That response does help. I don't buy autos but to know that $300-$500 for something like this does give me something to work with. I will try to get a pic but hard to do so since its for sale in a shop. I think since it's PSA/DNA AUTH then the sig is good I assume? Ok, thanks.

You can judge the grade/quality of the sig by yourself-- you don't need PSA/DNA to tell you it's dark and bold or light. The autograph grade doesn't hold anything near the same weight as a trading card grade, as you one can fairly judge the sig condition via online scan. Whether or not the autograph has a number grade really is no big deal, having minimal effect on market value.

In the scheme of things, a small cut out picture isn't terribly desirable, but a bold Clemente signature on anything is. You can do a history search at Lelands.com to see Clemente prices.

Default Lelands!

Great! I will check it out. Like I said the signature is like a ball point pen in blue with some pink signature inside, like it was a double pen or something. I will check out Lelands and do some comparision shopping.

With some inks, there probably can be some separation or spreading over time-- thus the 'double ink' appearance. Keep mind on condition when judging value.
