I think I remember Jim Maxwell telling me a few years ago he was selling all his tobacco cards. Also, coincidentally I got in the mail a postcard from him just a couple of days ago announcing an exhibition of his artwork. The postcard showed a picture of him standing in front of a lovely oil painting, so I guess he's concentrating on creating art. Good for him.

Dan:

I know what you mean about Jim and Ginny's auctions. I've got over 30 cards in my collection - all HOFers and stars that I got in their auctions and the most expensive one was the N162 Dunlap that I paid a whopping $301 for.

They were very nice people to deal with, but I think much of what he was auctioning was his own personal stash and it was getting more-and-more expenive to replace them simply to continue fueling the auctions so he stopped. For quite a while, his website teased us that another auction would be forthcoming, but it never happened.

He's revamped his website (http://www.maxwellcaputo.com) and still sells on ebay under the ID "imajgin."

David Rudd:

You'd like Jim's better half, Ginny Caputo. She's a fine photographer. (http://www.ginnycaputo.com)

I see James at Hunt Auctions now and then. He told me he just can't find tobacco cards like he used to. I think he has phased himself out. Dan.
