Default Fleer Factory Baseball sets

I recently picked up a small bunch of baseball sets. Not sure why since I do not collect baseball.
But I noticed that there are 6 Fleer factory sets. But on the early sets there does not look
like there was ever any type of secure fastening for the set.I do not even see anything where
it may have been removed. The newer factory sets have a small Fleer sticker that ties the
flap to the bottom of the box. So my question is. Did all the Fleer factory sets have this
sticker/tape or was it something that the company started after the first couple years.
Thanks in advance for any information.

81 they shipped basically a vending case, with the boxes labeled A, B and C

A "factory set" was box a plus half of box B Or the other half plus box C

I think 82 was the same but I'm not positive.

Steve, thanks a lot for taking the time to help. I guess I should have been more specific. Here are a couple example of what I was meaning.
Take note that the 1985 factory set does not look like any tape or label to seal the set. While the 1988 sets definitely have tape/label to
seal the sets.Thank you.

Ah, unfortunately I wasn't buying factory sets then, and didn't have a local shop to hang out at.

I don't even have factory sets for those years, so I can't compare them or check if the sealing stickers are likely to come off after a few decades.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply. I am sure it does not mean a whole lot anyway. Take care and happy collecting.

there are definitely legit factory sets without the tape. We have handled them fairly frequently, but I can't tell you dates off the top of my head.

I have a Fleer run of sets from 1923 ( partial) and 1959 to 2007. From 1981 to 2007 I just did base sets and any Update set. The only one in a binder is 1981. The rest are in boxes. The first factory set I have in a box with a seal is 1988. Not saying early sets were not sealed but the boxes I bought were not sealed.

This actually helps a lot.In this small lot of sets I bought the 1985, 1986 sets do not have any seal and look like they never did. The 1987,1988,1989, 1990 all do.Thanks.

As a dealer in the 1980's I can confirm that the small seal put on the factory sets started with the (green lettering box 1988 Set). Before 1988 , done contained the seal that I received from Fleer. I first factory set I got from them I believe was in 1985 , 85,86 and 87 ( blue lettering) were not sealed. At least this pertains to Hobby Sets .

Staring with the 1981 Set they have 4 vending boxes to make 3 sets. So 24 vending box case made 18 sets.

I just checked the 5 sets that I picked up and I can confirm with you that on what I have 1986,1987 no seal, 1988, 1989, 1990 all have a seal. Thanks for the help.
