Stunning card Jim--could not agree more. I traded a low pop common in 8 for $4K and this beauty. |

I have never had success in the holder, but I have had success cracking and re-submitting. I would be afraid to crack your card for fear of damaging it as much as anything. If it were me, I would wait to do it at a show where you can talk to them and they have to actually show you why it is not an 8 rather than just anonymously mail it back to you as "min. grade". If it is as nice in person as it looks in the scan, I don't know how they couldn't put it in an 8 holder on review. |

My guess would be that they tell you its not an 8 because of the centering. |

Good point Jim. The T/B centering looks right on the edge of what might be acceptable for an 8. |

Jim- i hear what you are saying...but i would argue that your eddie collins is "equally" as off center to the right (if not more) then my barger is to the bottom... |

Just curious..any of you guys that have the T205's in 7 or above actually submit the cards yourself raw? or were all of them bought already slabbed? |

here is an analysis of the rarity of high-grade T205 vs. T206...(from looking at the PSA pop reports). |

about 10-15 years ago when there were two T-205 cards that I believe CSA graded GEM MINT, that Mr. Mint touted in one of his auctions? Someone here has to remember that -- I remember it caused quite a debate in the collecting community back then.... |

The relatively low numbers in high-grade holders seems to indicate that the grading companies are pretty affective at spotting altered cards at this level. |

Jim -- the harder it is to find those cards in ultra-high grade, the greater the incentive to try and make it happen. When you have a T205 PSA 8 population one common selling for $5k and up...the incentives are aligned for potential alterers to try really hard to get something past PSA/SGC/GAI...and the risk (e.g. the grading fee) is a pittance compared to the potential reward. |

Sure the incentive is great, but thus far it has not equated with (unethical) success. There are not enough PSA 8s and 9's to even make one complete T205 set. Obviously they are not getting many of them into holders. |

Actually the risk is greater than the filing fee unless the card is completely worthless before it is "doctored." If the doctoring is unsucessful -- a doctored card has very little value. And, logically the cards that have the best chance of being improperly "improved" and getting the coveted high grade are those that already grade high. So you might have to sacrifice a PSA 6 or 7 to even try to get an 8. And the doctoring is would likely be irreversible and permantly damage the card. Additionally, I believe that only a few people with PSA/SGC etc. actually grade T205s so it is unlikely that resubmission will help as much as it might with a more recent issue. |

picked these 3 up for a little over $32 The Bridwell has a minute spot of paper loss no bigger than a pinhead on the back. The other one has 2 wrinkles that do not show on the back. The t206 has the name on top and bottom. |
