Default 1950's Rawlings Whitey Lockman First Baseman Mitt in Original Box

For sale is a gorgeous brand new circa 1950's Rawlings Whitey Lockman First Baseman's Mitt that is in the original box. The mitt is MINT in my opinion. The box is VG or so. I have pictured pics of the mitt and the box.

You will likely never find another glove of this quality in the original box.

Forgive my response without intent to purchase, but that is simply amazing. I've never seen that old of a glove unused. I could see that as a museum piece. Whoever buys it is getting quite a piece.

It's time warp crazy; like you went back in time, got it, and then came back to now with it. You will never see another one like it.

Gorgeous! What's your guess on vintage? 1960s? 70s? 80s?

Really? I'm not an equipment expert, but it looks newer than that to me. A beauty regardless of period.

The T85 is listed in the 1954 Rawlings catalog.

Thanks. As a child of the 1950s, this strikes me as a seriously advanced design for that time. I'm guessing none of the other standard fielder's models in that 1954 catalog would be confused with models from several decades later, but that one sure could be. Wonder how long the T85 was in production? Makes it all the better!

Most popular item viewed at my booth at the National. Yes, no one pulled the trigger but many could not believe the condition of the glove in the original box.

Still for sale.

I think it might have just been for 2 years as then they had the TM60 starting in 1956 at $21.
The T60 was $20 in 1954 which is $220.00 in todays dollars. Their top firstbase mitt in 1954 was the Musial T70RY which was priced at $26.50.

Great info, thanks.Someone just posted a Rawlings mid-50s MM model fielders glove in the memorabilia pickups section, which still has a lot of "fat" to it, which is how I remember gloves from my youth. Granted this is a first baseman's glove with a very different design, but to my eyes it still looks quite advanced to be a contemporary of the Rawlings's fielder's gloves of that time. The first "modern" glove I remember was the Wilson A2000, and for a number of years that was the glove everybody wanted.
