A few new arrivals. The Bobby Orr is the Lipton Soup card but because there are no visible cut lines, it would likely only grade an "A"?

LOL. I thought you might like that one.

With how new/recent these cards are, comparatively, I was hoping to find higher grade examples but at $20 dollars each CDN delivered, I couldn't refuse them.

You definitely got a good deal. That's a nice '7' for the Kurri, and I love oddball issues and you can't get much better than Orr. Funny, as much hockey as I have, I've never gotten a KSA graded card. And heck, I even have an SCD graded Gretzky so its not like I'm married to PSA/BGS.

I thought for a 7 it was a great looking card, especially the centering.

As far as grading goes and different companies, I likely have cards from almost everyone but not once have I sent a card in, personally, to get graded.

I have heard/read numerous stories about KSA, all from severely negative to highly recommended but I personally have no idea how true any of them are?
I heard under the old ownership one had to be careful but I have quite a few times now the new guy, Nate, is suppose to be on top of his game?

They certainly don't have wide hobby appeal nor do they carry the same clout/value as SGC or PSA graded cards, but so far so good, imo, with the cards I have purchased. All fit the cases/slabs perfectly and none show any signs of shenanigans as far as my eyes can tell.

Like you, I have never personally sent a card for grading.

I pretty much buy the card, not the grade nor the company. That Kurri 7 is indeed a nice one, I have had a nice 7 and a poor 7 (both PSA). I imagine that happens a certain percentage of the time with all of the grading companies. Just part of the deal I guess.

[QUOTE=Exhibitman;1971508]I have one in my collection; not an easy card to find.

There are 2 JD McCarthy Bucyk cards. This is the more difficult one to find.

Psyched to add this 1965 complete solo superia team set to the collection... includes first pro card of eddy “the cannibal” merckx.

Ray Bourque RC 80-81 OPC and a recent scan update of my Jaromir Jagr that I pulled years ago and placed in its current recessed screw down. OC, mostly back, keeps this card from being a 10, imo, even though it is pack fresh.

Another arrival today. 82-83 OPC Grant Fuhr RC. Had a bit of a tough time finding a raw one centered for a decent price but lucked out on this one, finally.

Very nice. Such a great card, big fan of the cards of that era and that's a good one.

Based simply on your "new acquisitions" posts, you must have an amazing collection.

Thanks, Rob.
I also like the cards from that era, especially the Gretzky . Hindsight being 20/20, I should have purchased a OPC BVG 6 for $600 a few years ago.
I thought it was a lot of money back then, and it was, but I could have easily doubled it now as they seem to be on fire.

I am getting there with my collection. Outside of concentrating on my 52's, I pretty much have a mish mash of everything. (most in my link below)

I just watched a 67-68 Orr All Star card end. I wanted to bid but due to the sellers feedback and description of the card (VG) plus the fact I'd have to pay 13% sales tax on it, I decided against it. I think I made the right decision but due to the cards centering, it was tough not to bid. https://www.ebay.ca/itm/1967-68-TOPP...orig_cvip=true

I'm not sure what I am going to chase next? I recently got burned on a Darryl Sittler RC that came creased so with that one on its way back, I will likely try to find another one?

I'm still picking up cards to complete my vintage Parkhurst run. The cards are available, but I may just need to get up off my wallet and pay.
1952-1963 I now need 59 cards (I'm collecting the '51 series as well but I need ALOT LOL). Batters Box and Greg Morris cards continue to supply, and these arrived today. I use the old Tuff Stuff price guide which is online I really don't know how accurate it is https://www.tuffstuff.com/priceguides
1953 Doug Harvey #26 cost me $28 which is a little less than 20% "book"and just 2 more cards left to complete my set.
1958 "All Eyes On the puck" cost me $11.13 a touch more than 20% book and just 4 cards left to complete my set.
1959 Carl Brewer cost me $6.13 about 6% book I need just two more cards for my set.

Larry

Picked up another Darryl Sittler OPC RC as the first one I won ended up being creased despite the sellers claim it had no flaws.

A couple recent P/U's. One is of Ty Dellandrea's signed OHL Flint Firebirds card. Ty is a friend's nephew and a local boy to me who was chosen in the first round, 13th overall, by the Dallas Stars.

The 2nd is another Sidney Crosby RC. 05-06 Beehive card that I happened across and went for it. A 10 would have been nicer but I have zero complaints with this card.

Two for my album:

Tho they are a year apart I wonder if they were shot at the same game?

The 1973 has been a favorite since I was a kid--doesn't get any better than Wilt and Kareem battling it out.

Nice cards, Rob!

I just received this one yesterday in the mail. I was looking for/watching his Young Gun cards and seen how they were increasing in value in every auction so I decided to step out from the craze and purchase this one while searching and seeing another one end just shortly before. I don't normally talk up my cards, but this one is a great looking card, imo.

A couple of new acquisitions......

I am a big fan of 80s hockey cards, particularly O-Pee-Chee. I like that you get rookies cards, difficult to find in good condition, of players like Neal Broten, a HOF icon, for $10. In US hockey, he's the equivalent of Barkley, and good luck finding a 3rd year Barkley for $10...

Love the OPC hockey, great pick-ups. Agreed, so many great cards of great players for little to nothing relatively. Especially love the Broten, would fit in my little "Miracle" pc.

BAM! That is a big one. When it comes to Bobby Orr, it kinda realistically starts with second year cards. OK, maybe not perfect, but very, very nice. Congrats on another great addition.

The pics show up to me as stacked but I assume you mean the top one or the one with the better centering?
I still have both. The one that came to me as not properly described. The seller and I worked out a deal so I ended up keeping it.

Sorry to hear, Adam.

I was watching that one as well when you won it.

I don't recall, but was that from a CDN seller or an American one?

American seller.

Like I said, USPS shows it delivered to my house on the 28th. I guess I will have to go out there and literally beat the bushes and see if the package is in there somewhere.

My USPS problems usually come with substitute carriers, in case that would somehow help you know how your package got lost. Things have been almost flawless with the regular ones. But a couple days ago, the second most valuable package I've ever had coming was left about six houses down b/c of a number written on the box that was a little different than the street address # (but the carrier took it to that house number). With the tracking # then marked as "left with individual", despite how no one accepted it or signed for it.

I had to drive around the neighbor streets hoping to run into the mail truck, cause I knew as far as USPS records were concerned, it was delivered and done with. Luckily I passed by it and we quickly figured it out.

We came back to the target house and it was still sitting there on that porch -_-

Hoping no one in here happened to have bought this 1960 Stan Mikita card on ebay last month, looks fake.

I'm not familiar with these cards at all so I am not questioning your knowledge, but what, in your opinion, leads you to believe it is fake?
Both cards exhibit the same front print marks so "my guess" is just the scans are making it look different/unauthentic to you?

Default The Great One

My first hockey card pickup in a little while. It looks better in person. If I could just figure out the best scanner settings to use...

For a graded/slabbed card, that looks pretty decent, imo, Eric.

There is a test section below where you can go and play with all sorts of settings to see what works best, but also, as this has been asked ad nauseam, as you likely know, there are also many scanner threads on here if you want to do a search.

Thanks. It was an eBay auction that apparently nobody was following. I managed to get this for a song.

I can't seem to get the colors right. The scanner made it look like Wayne has the worst case of sunburn ever.
