Default Ernie Lombardi auto - Anyone familiar with his signature?

Hi Guys,

I very rarely come over to the autograph forum, but I do post on the pre-war board so I hope you won't mind helping me out with a question I have.

I am wondering if this might be Ernie Lombardi's signature? It's written on the back of one of his cards. When I got it I assumed someone just wrote his name in pencil, but I looked up his signature and there are some similarities. If it is a legit signature, I think it would likely be from very early in his career.

Thanks for any help!

Luke

Here is what I believe to be a post career auto. I have a team signed Giants ball from 1944, I think, and his signature is actually a bit sloppier on the ball, and that one was TPA. I do see similarities, like you indicate. I would say that it is possible to be authentic. Great Zeenut. I collect Lombardi, and the Zeenut is on my wishlist. The last one I saw looked like hell compared to yours.

I do know Lombardi had someone who did a rather nice clubhouse for him. The ones I've seen are nicer than your example however. So there's always the possibility it could return with that designation as well.

If forced to bet on it, I'd say yours its probably good. Let's say it's a 75% chance, give or take 5% (if that helps!)

Best of luck!

Thanks for the help guys. I just realized that my 1930, which came from the same collection may also have an autograph. Couple more questions:

1. How would you go about getting them authenticated? I've never sent to PSA for autographs but I assume they are the place to go? About how much would this cost (if they are even accepting submissions now)?

2. Any guesses as to what they would be worth in a PSA holder?

Thanks again for your time!

I'm not very confident this would come back as authentic. It's ugly / rushed / compact / sloppy. The huge swish away the end that makes the "i" look like a "y" is a problem. Just too many inconsistencies with his signature if you compare it with the '29, the post career example I gave, and even other signatures.

To me, it looks some kid scrawled an imitation of his signature on the back of the card.
