Default Slow Joe Must Go with unhidden reserve

Slow Joe SGC A with nice image is offered for auction with an unhidden reserve of $50 plus $2.45 shipping. Increments of $1 are requested. If compliant with all the rules, the third bidder will win the card ending the auction.

This is the same card that is listed in the T206 BST section, if you want to pay more.

To be clear the minimum sale for this card will be $54.45 including shipping.

If you are not the third bidder and want the card, you may bid more ($65 for example), and if there are no overbidders in 24 hours, the auction will end and you will win.

Or if you missed the other listing and pay the price listed there (in the T206 BST section), you will win the card immediately.

And just to make it even more interesting, you cannot bid more than once a day.

Days will be determined by the calendar only and not the clock, so that if you bid today, you may place your second bid any time after midnight tonight (CDT).

CDT is Central Daylight Time.

With several ways to win the card, any conflict will be resolved by the clock to determine who actually wins the card.

I will check both PMs and email, before declaring a winner.

Funds are net to me regardless of payment method.

Hopefully enough confusion has been created by the rules for this auction that a major kerfuffle will result and I will be chastised incessantly in a new thread over this listing and the sale of this card.

It is unlikely that this format will be used more than once.

If this listing results in a quick sale by any of the methods described, please note that I will be very busy this afternoon and confirmation of the sale may be delayed for up to six hours.

Get this troll outta here.

Seriously this is a serious auction for the card shown. If you cannot decipher the subtle and nuanced rules, please contact me directly before bidding or go to your local Home Depot. Maybe they can help.

I find myself perplexed by the turbidity of the rules.

Is the winner "the third bidder" or "the bidder who places the third bid"?

example:

"Bidder 1" places bid of $50
"Bidder 2" places bid of $51
"Bidder 1" places bid of $52
"Bidder 3" places bid of $53

Does "Bidder 1" win with the third bid, even though there are only two bidders and there is not yet a "third bidder"?

or,

Does "Bidder 3" win with the fourth bid because he/she is "the third bidder"?

or,

Would this potential conflict, which I presume falls under classification of "any conflict" the be resolved by the clock? And if so, just how the heck would that work?

According to my personal banker at the Whackabaht Regional Savings and Loan in Chiang Rai, your 1725 baht bid falls short of the $50 hidden reserve. A bid of 1748 baht would have sufficed, but since a subsequent valid bid exists, this bid ia declared null and void.

of course would have to chip in an additional 259 yen for shipping.

Tim,

This really shouldn't cause a kerfuffle. The rules, clearly indicated that a second bid by the same bidder could be made after midnight when the date changes in Kankakee, Illinois, and by inference a third bid could be placed by the same bidder 24 hours thereafter that would result in a sale.

I would hate to deprive Greg, the only valid bidder so far, of the opportunity to win this precious card. The "intent" of the rules was not to exclude the first and second bidders.

Furthermore the "intent" of this auction was to sell the card and not to engage in international currency manipulation and I will not release my emails concerning this or my yoga schedule. Period. And if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor.

I'll go 5,726 yen (plus shipping of course). Barring any Monopoly money exchange rates, this should be the 3rd genuine bid

It looks like Greg is the presumptive winner of Slow Joe Doyle, but why are there all these people gathering in the street behind what looks like an old kamikaze pilot carrying a "Never Greg" poster.

HEY FRANK!

I can invoke this provision of the rules now, right?

I'm not the third bidder - CHECK!

I want the card - CHECK!

So I may bid more now. Right?

Hey! You made the rules.

P.S. And yes, part of what I do for a living involves writing specifications.

Exactly what I expected, a kerfuffled loser. We can hash it out on the main board and after 223 posts by the lynchers of 54, one or both of us will inevitably be banned.

Kerfuffled? Nah.

Actually, saddened by this troublesome turn of events. There is actually a tear of sorrow rolling down my right cheek as I write.

I would have treated that card better than anyone.

First, I would have freed it from its plastic tomb.

Then I would have returned it to its home, comfortably glued into a nice scrap book where it obviously has spent most of its life.

Does anyone KNOW what the card is going for now? I got lost long ago............I think it's more than a dollar though.....mind you there is a significant difference between the Canadian and U.S. dollar......but my head hurts.
