gaps between cards
We've done this before but always interesting.
Mike Cuellar is in 1960 Topps, then doesn't appear again until 1965. Maury Willis is in 1963 Fleer, then doesn't appear again until 1967 Topps. Lou Piniella is in 1964 Topps, then doesn't appear again until 1968. If you don't count regionals, Stan Musial skips from 1953 Bowman to 1958 Topps. I don't think he even has regionals in 1956 or 1957. Ted Williams IIRC has no 1953 cards. Hal Newhouser skips from 1948 Leaf to 1953 Topps if memory serves.

Satchel Paige has cards from 1948, and 1949, then nothing until 1953. And of course, nothing for his 1965 cameo.

Outside of regionals, did he have anything in 1952?

How about a technicality?
The formerly long-retired Minnie Minoso was featured on that 1977 Topps Record Breaker card, because he played in a game the previous year, so it's a semi-official(?) player card.

Nope. The Red Man is such a classic though, hard IMO to say he had no cards. Berk Ross meh.

Stretching the " card " thingy again :
.. What I often ponder about these things is that in late fall of 1952 , that "15 Cents " cost of a single Star Cal Decal would have bought you THREE UNOPENED PACKS OF HIGH NUMBERS TOPPS ! ponder that , why dontcha . |

1954 Topps Tom Lasorda rookie skips all the way to 1973 Topps and OPC as coach on someone's manager card, or 1978 for his own manager card. (there is a 1955 Golden Stamp and a couple of postcards)

If we add managers clearly there would be many examples of players who became managers/had manager cards many years after their last player card. That might be the longest gap though?

Frisch, some lesser known 1936 cards, then 51 Bowman. Did Wagner have any cards between his last card as a player in the teens and 48 Leaf? Oh, yeah, 1936 R312.

By far the most frustrating gap for me is Harmon Killebrew...1956 to 1958, no 1957 Topps card. 1957 is one of my favorite years and designs, skipping 1957 leaves a huge hole in my Killebrew collection (favorite player).

DiMaggio was still playing 49-51 but no cards unless you count 51 Berk Ross. Paige skips from 49B to 53T. No 51 Jackie.

Stan Musial appears in 1949 Bowman, then skips to 1951 Berk Ross, then after 1953 Bowman, doesn't show up in a Topps product (other than team photos) until 1958 Topps AS. I sure wish he would have been in those iconic 1950's Topps products.

Only semi-related but a few years ago there was this guy Sean Kazmar Jr. who had made his MLB debut in 2008 as a 23 year old and then didn't make another MLB appearance until 13 years later, in 2021 as a 36 year old.

Sure. That's why I said "after 1953 ...". He was in 1952 and 1953 Bowman, and then skipped by Topps after that until 1958AS. Here's my 1952 Bowman.

A 57 Musial, or a 58 regular issue, potentially could have been really cool.

Agreed a '58 base Musial would have been cool. The AS card is really neat, but always wondered why they didn't give him the honor of a base card if they finally had the contract.
