Great pieces Roland. Here is my blue version of the tan championship team photo you have.

Default Monte Autograph from Cuba

Here is an autograph from his time with Almendares in Cuba, pre-MLB. Note that he signed "Monty." He would soon change to signing Monte because it was easier for him.

I thought I would post this here as well as the memorabilia section as this is home of the literal experts in the field. I came across this anonymous image a while back and I'm wondering if it could possibly be the 1918-19 Almendares squad? It is hard to find images for the entire team, but I believe I have been able to identify a half dozen or so members. I say "believe" because I'm terrible at comparing faces so I would appreciate anyone's input here. Could this be 1918-19 Almendares or am I just slightly crazy. Thanks and Happy Holiday all!

Who I think I might have identified.

#6 - Alfredo Cabrera

#10 - Jose Lopito Lopez

#12 - Agustin Parpetti

#14 - Jose Maria Fernandez

#15 - Jose Rodriguez

#18 - Gervasio Gonzalez

Default 1918-19 Alemdares

I am not sure of the year of the photo you have but it is not from the 1918-19 season. Below is a photo taken of the Almendares club on the inaugural day of the 1918-19 season. Note the difference in the uniform.

Monte Irvin had a great performance in the 1948-49 championship, and was of great help to Almendares' victory in the 10 homerun championship, and also in the 1st Caribbean Series held in Havana, by hitting 2 Champion homeruns, average of .389. Connors was also a great help in the Caribbean Series, ave.409 and leader in doubles with 3 and stolen bases with 4. I show photos of awards received by the two.

In 1864, after finishing his studies in the United States, Nemesio Guillo, his brother Ernesto and Enrique Porto returned to Cuba. Nemesio brought a ball and a bat in his luggage. The next day the three of them started, but they gradually added to the practice. other young people, until two years later Team Habana was formed, with two teams that played against each other, on the grounds of Paseo y Mar street, the 1st Habana Park, I show photos of 2 years ago when the Route plaque was inaugurated in the Linea y G Park, at the monument to Emilio Sabourin, a group of Americans were present
