c1911-15 Steele's Inside Base Ball Game - Complete? Value?
Anyone know whether this game appears to be complete, or if not, what may be missing? The ONLY reference I was able to find to it was at:
http://baseballgames.dreamhosters.com/BbTitles.htm which lists the manufacturer and years of production as Burr-Vack Manufacturing Co, c1911-15 The one that I have has three small (3/8") dice, 11 metal-ringed cardboard discs (blank), and 8 score sheets (1 scored, with Janet beating John 11-5 in the bottom of the 6th) along with the dice cup and original box and lid. The box is approx. 3"x3"x1-3/4". I'm trying to figure out whether it is complete or, if not, what may be missing. Any idea of value would be helpful too. If nothing else, hopefully you vintage game guys will at least enjoy the photos: |

Hi, according to the book "Baseball Games by Mark Cooper" .
Steele's Inside Base Ball, 1911. A three disc board game with metal rimmed discs. Only the game board is shown in the book. Steele manufacturing 18" x 9". It looks like you are missing the game board. Value $50-$100. Because Cooper does not show a picture of the box, I would think someone is looking for the box to complete their game. Joe

I see. Thanks for the info, and the book reference. Looks like a good one that I'll be picking up to add to my library. Much appreciated!

Hi Lance, thanks for the pics! Steele's is actually pretty scarce, but for whatever reason (we can't figure -- we think it's a very cool game) it's not a high-demand item even among game collectors. We've seen only three playing boards (including the one in Mark's book) in all our years of collecting, but we got ours (missing most or all of the parts, and not for sale, sorry) for $28. and $13. in on-line sales/auctions.
The board (shown below) and dice are really all you need to play the game, but if you're not a "game guy" per se and want to part with the playing pieces for a reasonably low price, IM us here or contact us at our own Forum. Y'know, you coulda just followed the links on our page and asked there too -- Mark Cooper is a member of our Forum as well as this one. Ah, forgot to add -- except for the board, of course, your set of parts looks close to complete, although we think there should be at least twelve (probably thirteen) coin/marker pieces.
