Hey all,

Just wanted to pop in and say that this board has been a blessing for me meeting a few of you, chatting to a few more, and just knowing there are other cardboardian psychos out there such as myself makes me feel somehow at peace.

I started looking back at some of the old Net54's posts, some of the originals. Pretty funny to see what we were all talking about 5 years ago. Here's one of the first posts:

http://www.network54.com/Forum/153652/thread/1000484824/last-1000497408/is+this+the+%26quot%3Bofficial%26quot%3B+board-

Leon says something about that he's pretty sure he'll hang around here if others do. Glad you did, man!

To all Net54dians,

Merry Christmas!

Jimi

Jimi,

You mean to tell me that Leon has been moderating (mothering) this board for an entire 5 years. I'm surprised that he has managed to avoid being put into some type of asylum by now. Laugh out loud.

Peter

No, actually, he hasn't been the moderator for that long. Bill Cornell was before him. Who was before Bill though? I haven't been around the board long enough. Pleasure meeting Leon and Bill at the Chicago National last year though.

I for one am glad this board has lasted so long. But a lot of the props has to go to, John Spencer and Mike Williams (Full Count Board) for getting it all started. Then Bill Cornell and Elliot for keeping the ball rolling after the drama, and then to Brian and Leon for keeping the drama alive. Well I do wish this board good luck in the next year and look forward to many more Net54 dinners!

Trevor

It's creators, if you will, were John Spencer and his right hand guy, Mike Williams. It was the Fullcount Baseball Card Company chatboard. Here is the first post from it.

We welcome you to our site! This bulletin board was designed for you, the "vintage" baseball collector, as a means of communication with other individuals that share "our" passion. Please feel free to use it as often as you like - our goal is to be the Internet source for "vintage" baseball communication. Have fun and participate!

**So that is where this originated from. In the old days there was no editing or deleting, for the most part, by anyone. It was somewhat out of control and John and/or Mike got tired of it and closed it down. It was John's real decision as it was his company website. I think they were threatened with lawsuits but not positive. It's not like I haven't ever heard the "lawsuit" thing before . This was before the reform of the internet law and it was less protective of individual chatboard owners/moderators. When they closed it down Elliot and Mike each started one and those on the old board gravitated towards the Net54 platform as it seemed better operationally. Mike had his chatboard on Yahoo, I believe. It certainly wasn't anything personal as both are great guys. After, about a year or so?? (I could be off on that) Elliot retired the reins to Bill and then Bill, to I, about 1 1/2 to 2 years ago. For the record I still think I was the first to post on this board and Elliot says he has proof he was....I think my first post got deleted, da** it . At any rate it's really the collective community that should be thanked the most for the board. John used the term "passion" to describe himself and the other board members. I think that is an apt term. It is my honor to serve as moderator. best regards

Hey Leon, for the record i saw the first thread about a year ago and Elliot did make the first post and you were 2nd. The reason i looked it up was because i thought i had made the 2nd post on the board but you beat me by a couple minutes,so i was only 3rd....i guess that also makes me next in line to be moderator
