Default Roger Maris signed baseball?

Hi everyone. I have a Roger Maris signed baseball authenticated by James Spence JSA and 16 signatures from 16 HOF'ers! Dimaggio, Aaron, Banks, Herman, Snider, Lemon, Wynn, Irvin, Brock, Mathews, Feller, Hubbell, Ford, Willie Mays, Gomez, and 1 other I can't recall.

3 auction houses offered me $600 for it. Maris alone is worth $400 and up. Plus 16 HOF'ers ! Many who are deceased so they're not signing anymore. They all said if Maris signed the ball by himself, it's worth more. I find that hard to believe as the rarity of this ball is unique and rare.

I will post pix of it and all sigs and JSA letter on Sunday.

Any interest? I paid $710 for it 3 yrs ago.

Thanks Rob Burke

Yeah, it's prety hard to sign once your're deceased

...unless you Coach's Corner. Somehow he manages to get players to sign once they're deceased.

Sounds like a nice ball. I would be interested in seing pictures.

I don't understand why would 3 auction houses offer you 600.00 for the ball. They would take your ball on consignment and when it sells take a cut from it but kind of strange 3 of them would offer to buy it from you. You sure that is what they said?

The Ball would be worth more for sure if only signed by Roger. Still, sounds like a really cool ball

yes they offered me $600 and didnt mention anything about consignments. two private dealers offered me less than that for it. the one auction house employee said the most they will sell it for is $900 tops. i still think that is off. i reached out to owners of baseball card stores too and offers were low $300-500.

$600 sounds about right to me. I guess it would depend who was on the sweet spot and what kind of condition it's in.

Unfortunately, multi signed items, balls or flats, without a theme can be hard to sell. Even if they have a theme, they will very rarely command the same price as the lot of single signed items of the same people. There are exceptions, but not many. A good example would be that single signed balls of every member of the 27 Yankees would sell for multiples of a team ball. Heck a single signed Giard ball alone would probably sell for more than a team ball.
For your ball, $600 to a dealer or $1k retail sounds about right depending on who the 16 other HOFers are. Perhaps if the others are all Yankees, or some other theme, it could be more.

Nice ball.
It is what I expected it would be. Someone started a HOF ball and added Maris hoping he might make it in. He hasn't, so it breaks the theme.
Believe me, I wish multi-signed items held more value. I have lots of them in my collection and every time I go to sell one I am disappointed. I have sold several balls very similar to yours, but without Maris. I never got more than $500 retail for any of them and most were between $300-400.
Because Maris is on it, 2 dealers offered you $600 for it. They will offer less because they need to make a profit. You paid $710 3yrs ago. If you add a little for appreciation, perhaps you get $1K retail now. Any dealer that buys it would probably list it for $1200-1300 and sell it for $900.

well Lord - a guy at heritage auctions told me he would buy it for $600 and sell it around $800-900, which i think is a total lie. i mean there is no "theme" but once and no offense aaron, brock and the ones who are alive pass away - then this ball is even more rare as everyone on it is deceased. i think $600 is way too low. i hope the pix i showed spark some interest.

Maris may be one of the only non HOF players who could break up a theme to an HOF ball and increase the value. The signatures on the ball are very crisp and dark. Quite a striking piece. The lack of rare HOF players especially leads to the Maris adding value. I do not think that ball would sell for more than $400 without him.

Multi signed balls are a fairly tough sell although I think they are undervalued. It is a beautiful ball. Good luck with the sale.

What is your price on it? Realistically I don't think $600 is a bad offer at all with no commission, etc.
Best,
Jeff

In my opinion you will do a lot better here if you just come up with a price you want for it, especially after soliciting value opinions it makes it seem still like you are just fishing....which is okay it just usually doesn't warrant much attention. Just my two cents. Best, Jeff .

That is a solid ask for the piece. Very nice. Hope someone on here has interest as it is a very nice piece and that is a good price for it.
