Losing our beloved Yakima Bears

The Yakima Bears have been a minor league affiliate since the late 1930's (originally the Yakima Pippins) but after this season they are moving to the Portland, Oregon area. I am one truly sad Bears fan. The Bears, like any good minor league team, had such great promotional events, and still hold the long forgotten "Jay Buhner Buzz Cut Night". Here is a tribute to bizarre promotional events in the minors... feel free to add more strange days...

Sorry to hear the Bears are leaving... Although I must admit that when the rumour was that they would be playing at Clark College in Vancouver I was pretty excited...its just down the street from my office.
Now that they are moving to Hillsboro, Oregon it may be once a summer that I get there...I'd rather drive to Seattle than across Portland's westside
I did go to downtown Portland quite often to watch the Beavers (padres AAA) before they left town 2 seasons ago. I was at their last game, w/ bittersweet ovations sending them off.
The greater Portland Area was the largest metropolitan area in the US without a pro baseball team...so this is a step in the right direction!
Maybe someday MLB, but I kinda doubt it.

I have a YakBears cap, which I think I will proudly wear today!
