Any comments on this? I think the seller is really overhyping this card

If anyone wants a real T201 scrap type card, let me know. I have one that measures full and has a huge miscut (nearly 1/2").

While the Mickeyscc card might really be printer's scrap, it is ugly as hell and has no print flaws, or significant portion of another card showing. Adam's card, on the other hand, although probably not printer's scrap, is much more desirable in my opinion because of the severe miscut (side-to-side). This just goes to show that most mistakes in life, especially the ugly ones, are not usually desirable.

Sorry guys, but I just have to chime in on this one. I know we all have our collecting quirks. Heaven forbid I have mine. But I just gotta laugh when screw-ups become collectible. When I hear about misprints and miscuts I always wonder what the schmuck that got fired for screwing up would think if he knew people were paying premiums for the "scraps". As I sit here at work, I only wish people were so desirous to purchase my screw-ups!

It often depends on how screwed-up is the screw up. Some scraps are simply ugly, some are psychedelic.

many of the printers scrap cards enlighten us as to the production process, so from a historical perspective they can have great value. Also, as David points out, some are "psychadelic".

is typically miscut. I'm not sure why, but the majority of the Abstein/Butler cards that I have seen are miscut, including mine. This is definitely not rare or necessarily more collectible.

From the forensic science standpoint I can understand, although, like a mortician to a corpse. What I can't understand is paying a premium. Conversely, what also amazes me is paying premiums for cards with sharp corners and a faded image. To me the cards value is in the image. I picked up a load of N173 cabinets in a recent auction with beautiful albumen images but with the Old Judge ad trimmed off. Probably got them for 25 cents on the dollar. Made me just stop and think how silly. How can collectors put more weight in a classic photograph just because it has good corners and an advertisement stuck on it? My gain I guess. OK, time to get off my pulpit.

Also, I was just discussing this "quality of image" thing with another collector today - personally, I would much prefer an oj with a clear image, creases, and rounded corners, than an EXMT card with a faded blurry image.

Wanna start an authentication company that also grades only on the merit of the image?? Somebody should. Unfortunately, I think it would be too subjective. I guess it should just be left to the eye of the beholder.

Hacks collect the quantifiable. Advanced collectors collect the sublime.

Finding miscut cards in the t201 set is not uncommon at all. It was the first t-card set I completed and had 3 complete sets in my possession at one time. "V" cuts and portions of other cards showing on a card are not unusual. At one point I had come close to figuring out how the sheet looked. Sadly, I tossed that info with everything else when I decided to get out of the hobby
