Default Cap Anson Autographed Letter RARE Baseball's 1st Superstar

CAP ANSON Full page typewritten letter dated November 13th , 1905. On letterhead of "Chicago Clerks office, Adrian C. Anson City Clerk" Originates directly from the Cap Anson grand daughter "find" . Measures 8 1/2 x 11. The creases in the letter are exaggerated in the scan and are barely noticeable in person. Content deals with Anson appointing an Alderman for the 20th Ward of Chicago. Anson was baseball's first superstar and the first player to accomplish more than 3,000 hits. He played in a record 27 consecutive seasons both as player and manager 1871-1898. Spent most of his career with the Chicago Cubs then known as the White Stockings and later the Colts. Two time batting champ 1881 & 1888 and eight time RBI leader. 1880-82, 1884-86, 1888, 1891. He led his teams to five National League Pennants in 1880's. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1939 over a decade after his death in 1922. $4,000.00
