Default My 3rd T206 Cobb (and the most I've ever spent on a single card)

My third T206 Cobb won in REA's September Auction. When I saw I saw it I knew I had to win it. It's a technically correct 3 with its lower-left edge chipping and top-left corner wear but its overall presentation, especially its bright white borders, beautiful color and spot-on image registration won me over.

I bought my first Cobb (bat off) at the Baltimore National in 2012 for nearly 1/5 the amount I just spent for the "bat on." I wish I bought all my T206 Cobb's back then because this PSA 4.5 is a five-figure card now.

I bought my green Cobb from my favorite shop in August 2020 for 50% less than I spent for the bat on. At that time the $5K it cost me was the most I had spent on a single card. PSA 2 green Cobbs are reliably trading in the $7K-$9K range now.

Next up is the red Cobb, of course, but it's going to take a little while to replenish my card budget before I can buy one I like.

I've never really been a big fan of the Bat On Cobb, but that one is really nice looking man. Congrats on the win.

Great cards!!!

Bat off is not my favorite of the Cobbs, I've always like the bat on card the best. The bat on looks real. The one I have is not graded, and has a small pinhole in the center of the top border. I bought it from Mr. Lipset in the early 90s. And as previously mentioned, I to wish I'd bout the 4 Cobbs way back then.

They've reached what I consider somewhat crazy prices levels. And it seems they're going higher.

I like those cards, nice pictures; thanks for posting.

Same here! Nice bat on!!!!! Agree with Frank prices have gotten crazy on t206 cobbs. I bought the 4 from lew lipset many many years ago...they're long gone. Have owned a few red backgrounds too.

Not sure if I'll ever get the bat off to complete my "set."

Very nice cards. Wait for a "nice for the grade" red. My red is the worst of my set, wish I had waited for a better copy.
