I love reading through this thread each day. Your collections of 52 Topps are awesome.

I've been looking forward to today, because I own exactly ONE 1952 Topps card!

Nice looking card. Is there a story behind why this is the one 1952 Topps card you own?

And that is a fine looking copy.

Glad you're enjoying the thread. I know I look forward to seeing other members copies as well.

Not a great story...but I was following along with the thread where a net54 member was building the set https://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=278718

And I just thought some of the cards were beautiful, and I set out to get a few of the HOF. I don't focus too much on graded vs raw or which TPG company, but as much as I can, I try to look for centered cards.

I was thrilled to win this Schoendienst in May, 2020. I have been bidding on more, but the prices have taken off and my other collecting goals have eaten up most of the funds lately.

So again...thanks for sharing all your 52 Topps. They're outstanding.

Thanks Dale! Always on the lookout for upgrades so I'll probably never really finish. My hope is to eventually end up with a set in the range of what Bob has been showing us. Here is my Sima for today...

Someone has to have the worst card posted every day. I'm ok with the fact that it's usually me because otherwise, my collection wouldn't be anywhere near the size it is today.

Sima for today, another one in the eh category.

Most definitely not in the "eh" category. I spent quite a bit of time admiring your card before I read your disclaimer. Your card is gorgeous! Color, registration, lack of creases or staining, all there. The centering is possibly 51-49 (I didn't measure). It's a card I'd be pleased as punch to own (not sure what that means, but old people say it and I'm in that category now).

Thanks, Bob. If you need to upgrade anything from your set, make sure to check with me first since I'm sure I would be able to help you out. I'd probably be willing to do a straight trade with you for any card in the set, especially Mantle, Mays or Robinson.

I'm going to go put my Robinson in my bike spokes and pedal around a bit, just so you'll regret your offer.

I'm sure there are far worse looking cards out there in people's collections but, imo, that isn't what's important. What is important is that you are having fun and are able to collect what you can.
Many aren't afforded the luxury of being able to collect anything at all, and that is the way I look at it.
Of course everyone wants 7's-8's and up, wouldn't that be sweet, but the reality is that is a tall order that very few can afford.
My collection is a mixed bagged of grades/condition and I'm OK with that as I can say they're mine. Plus I remember the fun I had chasing them and actually winning them.

My Al Sima for today.

Default 1952 Topps

My card for today. Sima. Love seeing everyone's cards. We are a lucky group to have the cards that we do from this coveted set. I saw a lower grade 1952 Topps set in the current Goldin Auction...will be interesting to see how that does.

I've been watching the set in the Goldin Auction as well. It's kind of all over the place as far as grades with a Mantle that is Authentic Altered but some cards that are 4s and 5s. Most of the high numbers are 1s and 2s.

It's currently at only $33K with 9 days to go so it will definitely be interesting to see where it ends up.

https://goldinauctions.com/LotDetail...entoryid=87786

I just looked at the pictures of the set, and some of the grades make no sense to me. Take a look at the Slaughter in the last set of pictures. It's an 8, but it's missing the top, left corner and has other corner wear and surface wear. What was the grader thinking?

Misgrade. It's a PSA 1 with a PSA 8 label (mechanical error). Amazing that Goldin doesn't disclose that in the auction listing.

Edited to add Sima.
