Default Antique Base Ball Broadside ORIGINAL???

Okay, there was a great looking broadside that was eBay a couple of days ago. It was in near perfect condition which is rather worrisome, but it was not used apparently. Here's the link to the auction…

http://www.ebay.com/itm/SCARCE-Baseb...p2047675.l2557

The seller said he has been collecting for 30 years and insists it is 100% original, but of course I have my doubts. Can anybody help me out here?!

Thanks much!

Thanks for the reply! haha That's a good point, but it seems as though there is enough space between Saturday and 1900 to write in a full or an abbreviated month and day number. I was assuming these were printed at the beginning of the season and they would hand write the opposing team and confirmed day and month. I may be biased though in hopes that it is real!

the area of Pennsylvania where this dealer is located is full of businesses that love to sell this type of item over and over again. The Webster broadsides started to show up about 2 years ago.

So you're saying they just keep reprinting these things?

I have one of these but mine shows more edge wear and tear. It's printed on thin paper, fragile but not too brittle and I do believe mine is authentic. Quite of few hit the market in the last couple of years so I guess someone found a stash somewhere. I got mine on Ebay a year ago for about $40. Lelands was the seller and they were auctioning one a week for a while.

Interesting! Yeah I just found them listed on a couple other of the auction web sites. They are worth much less and much less rare than I thought!

In addition to no specific date, the spot for the visitors name is also blank. Apparently they printed a lot of these, using them for all Saturday games played at their home park in 1900, writing in the visitor name, month and date.

I think they are legit, but there was a cache found recently.
