Just in case you need to watch some baseball while in isolation. Here is a link to some classic baseball games:

For those of us in the DC-Baltimore area who are still on a high from the Washington Nationals 2019 WS Championship, TV station MASN is re-broadcasting in full all of the Nats' 12 postseason games, starting on April 2nd with the Wild Card Game. Here's the link to MASN's schedule for all of the games: https://www.masnsports.com/nationals...ostseason.html

Thanks for posting this......

I finally got around to trying it out today. Started with kerry wood's 20 k game, but abandoned that after he struck out the side in the 1st.

Went to game 4 of the 1976 WS.

Man that was terrific to watch! The game has changed so much.

Here are some things I noticed that you don't see much (if any) anymore:
  • Rose playing in on Mickey Rivers
  • The first two batters in the game either bunted or faked a bunt.
  • emphasis on the run game. alot of attention to the lead at first.
  • Pitchouts
  • Manager arguing with the ump (Martin was tossed in the 9th)
  • the NL rbi leader (Foster) batting 6th... he'd be in the 2 hole next year.
  • The Yankees #5 hitter (Carlos May) choked up about 2"
  • Talk about the grounds crew over-watering in front of home plate, and at first base
  • bad hops, playing the in-between hop
  • The runner on first called time out because "there was a play on" and he wasn't sure of it
Really enjoyable, can't help but think today's game would benefit by borrowing some of the attributes from the game 40 years ago.

Check out YouTube. There is a user who has posted radio broadcasts of games dating back to the mid 1930s. I've listened to several of them, including many complete World Series.

To keep it pre-war, here's a link to the 1934 All-Star Game.

I did notice my MLB.TV subscription auto renewed last week. I’ll call that “insult to injury”.

Great observations. I hate how the game has changed. I wish the game was still played like the early 60's.

Just watched Game 7 of the 1975 world series.

some takeaways that you don't see much (if any) in today's game:
  • Bill Lee's Blooper pitch... threw it several times. the second time he threw it to Perez, it landed "on the turnpike"
  • Bob Montgomery batting without a helmet
  • the split screen showing the pitcher and the runner taking his lead
  • Feet first slides

Watched Larson's perfect WS game recently. All 9 innings. Really fascinating!
