golf -
I can't express enough the coolness of this card and the player depicted. Think if Abner Doubleday or Alexander Cartwright went on to have an Honus Wagner type career... and few cards were around...
but there you were holding a card of a founding father and a game legend....

baseball -
simply my favorite card image of one of my favorite players to collect

Perhaps a bit pedestrian for this board, but they took me a while to track down- '34 Goudey collateral material

And a few Fatima tins-

Obviously my collection is offbeat for this board. I always liked this Austrian photo, reminds me of a Charles Dickens/Lewis Carroll scene, complete with Gothic hedges. I do have some new baseball items, but thought this would be a more interesting post.

Interestingly, just today my cousin by marriage showed me his original game used '39 Baseball Centennial patch which were worn on all Major and Minor uniform sleeves that year. His dad played in the minor leagues for four years. Do you know where my cousin had the patch? It was sewn onto his softball cap.

Page 421, from the July 3, 1869 issue of Harper's Weekly. At the bottom of the page is that beautiful woodcut of the farewell dinner for AG Curtin, at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia, June 12, 1869. Above it is a woodcut of... "The Redstocking Base-ball Club, Cincinnati. We give, on page 421, portraits of the picked nine of the Red Stocking Base-Ball Club of Cincinnati, Ohio. On the 16th day they beat the "Mutuals" and the next day the "Atlantics" of Brooklyn. The latter game was won 32 to 10. If the Red Stockings keep on and hold their own, they will be the champion club before the summer is ended. Hurrah for the Porkopolitans!"

At least that is what the paragraph on the other side says...

I edited my post to identify Gabby Street. He caught a ball dropped over 500 feet from the Washington Monument. I'd like to see them try that today with the mitts they used back then.

Some great cards posted, I really like the N172 Shafer. Also strange seeing a non-baseball Old Judge cabinet.

Best Regards,

e93 Donovan with a purple background instead of blue. I don't know if it increased the value or not, but its kind of neat.
