Default Top Gun Maverick Hits $1B Worldwide

Tom did it - what a legend. If you haven't seen this movie yet, what are you waiting for?

I like vintage Tom Cruise but many of his more recent films I haven't seen. How does it compare to the original?

i thought it was a great movie. and loved how it did a great job tying into the 86 movie.
One of the few sequels that was actually done well

I saw it a week or two ago with the family.

I'll be the oddball, and I'll assume 9 out of 10 will disagree with me, but I was pretty disappointed.

I thought it was a pretty clunky love letter to the original, lacking any of the chemistry between characters the original had. It was a lot of "Hey, remember that thing from the first movie?", "Remember that person from the first movie?", "Remember that scene from the first movie?"..............here's one that's very similar, but not quite.

"Remember Goose? Well here's his son...........Rooster?" LOL!

There's also this guy who is very similar to Iceman. His name is "Hangman", and he's trying to do his best impression of a young Val Kilmer (a tall order, I know), but there's not really enough room in the movie for Rooster, Maverick AND Hangman...so he gets put in the corner every once in awhile to let the big boys play instead.

Dialogue was pretty bad throughout.

Tom Cruise doing lots of Tom Cruise stuff and some well choreographed stunt scenes and a couple laughs made some of it enjoyable to me.

It wasn't awful.....I just found it.....Meh! I'm sure I'm in the minority. The rest of my family seemed to like it also.

Agree 100%

It was a fun movie, everything followed same pattern and the acting was really clunky,.

To use your words...I think they should have tried to make it a little more "Original".

everyone agrees to disagree I am not sure if it would have worked as well or been as appealing to the masses if it was more original. Than it would be more like a remake or many sequels that do not succeed because they are not able to create the spark of the original

I know a lot of folks who’ve seen it and all loved it. I’ll see it before it leaves the theater.

Default its a good movie but a low bar

Basically having covid for 2 years and lockdowns.

not sure how it would of done in 2017 for example..im sure it would of done really well but it was like shooting fish in a small barrel, timing couldnt be better.

the guy that plays rooster is really a budding star....also used to play baseball...

I like it better. A lot better, and I love the OG Top Gun. A lot of it has to do with the technological advances since the first was made, and Tom's ambitious plan to put all the actors/actresses in the actual cockpits during the flight scenes, but the storyline is so damn good, too.

Personally, it's one of the best movies ever made IMO. My dad and I saw it on a Saturday a few weeks ago. I had to drag him to the theaters, cause he was gonna wait for the streaming/Blu Ray version (not a huge fan of theaters). I called him the next morning, exactly 24 hours since we saw it, and he was on his way to see it again. The number of people I know that have seen it multiple times is ridiculous.

My mother is not about Tom Cruise cuz she thinks he is personally a weird dude. But she said he made a pretty decent movie.

As for myself, I don't go to movies like this looking for a well written script. Let's be honest and say this is just another Jack Reacher, Mission Impossible, etc type movie. However, the flying scenes are what I paid to see and this movie delivered. The stunts and dog fights were spectacular. Do you remember seeing the semi-truck flip over in the Dark Knight movie with the Joker? Did you see it in theaters? And then did you see it on TV? It wasn't the same. If you are even contemplating waiting to catch this movie on a streaming service please do yourself a favor and watch it in the theater. The movie will not be as good on TV because the stunts won't have the same effect. The entertainment is worth the price of admission.

Loved it! Also super special to see Maverick with my parents as well.

Back in 1986...my dad was a pilot in the AF and saw Top Gun in theaters with his squadron buddies & my mom (while pregnant with me).

Here we are in 2022... Seeing the new Top Gun Maverick with my parents... 35 years later lol

I didn't care much for Top Gun in the day. Tom Cruise and the endless grin is all I remember really. Not to knock Tom Cruise, in the right roles he has been a very good actor.

It’s amazing the difference in opinions here.
I thought it was a fantastic movie.
Probably better than the original but maybe not if you didn’t see or like the original.
