A few more Brooklyn.....
Beautiful cards everyone- as a Dodger fan, I love this thread ,,,,it was also cool watching the Dodgers play with their Brooklyn throwback uniforms on the other day.
Mike and Jim- amazing T206's !! *Harry is still wearing a Brooklyn uniform, so I figured it counted * |

My vintage collection is quite small, but it seems I do have several Brooklyn cards. Here's two of them:

The T207's
All these posts, and nary a brown background ...
looking at them in preview, its no wonder they've not made an appearance - they're cards only a mother could love.

Coupon Type 1
Quote:
Hey Jim - Great McElveen Type 1 ! That is one I have not seen before... Out of curiousity, what is your take on the top edge wavyness of the card ? (I have a type 1 with similar wavyness) A mouse bite ? It does not have the look of cards I have seen with mouse bites and I can't help but think with this issue being ultra thin, when they were cut from a sheet, perhaps is it possible, they were not cut through and through and then lightly torn the rest of the way, creating that wavyness ? I just find it odd, as I have now seen 2 or 3 type 1's with this on there... Then again... Hope all is well my friend - JJ

I am 100% the card is not trimmed. I am thinking this happened during the cut process. It wasn't a smooth separation and the top edge is the result. This card was in the same find as your Breienstein. I passed on the Breit-one of my many mistakes in this hobby-you can't own them all.

I concur...
Quote:
Jim - I concur... The card I own with similar wavyness is in the same spot (Top right) and it is the Perdue card. By the way, that Breit sat for a handful of days as I originally didn't want to pay too much for it. Now that I look back a few years, I should have paid asking price and then some... At that time Type 1's were pretty inexpensive, and in my opinion, they continue to be a relative bargain for their scarcity.

Never tried to get the McElveen graded but the A grade on the Perdue is just a lack of knowledge-that card is not altered. These seem to have been torn just a bit during separation. I would guess SGC is thinking better safe than sorry.
No one trims a card like that -even a novice trimmer would make a cut that was not wavy. there are not lots of type 1s to compare but I have seen several with the same wavy top edge-none I have seen appear altered. So my thinking is it happened at the time they were cut into individual cards.
