Spin rate of the dodgers pitchers are not as good as Boston, that's why they're down 2-0.

Dodgers will have their best shot in game 3 with buehler...his stuff can at least miss a few bats and they're going against porcello....who's a righty that pitches down in the zone so maybe la hitters can utilize their famous launch angle. Dodgers stadium and warm weather are also plusses.

Dodgers are probably spinning towards winter vacation.

(upon further reflection, I realize both teams will start winter vacation at the same time. So I use the term as a metaphor for losing the series).

I hear the Dodgers have tee times on Sunday.

The Red Sox tee times are tentatively scheduled in April.

I think tee time is scheduled for Kershaw's next start.

BTW Kershaw regular season ERA 2.39. Post season 4.28.

Nice to see how well that launch angle is working in extra innings. I bet the pop outs are going higher as a result.

Anyone awake and still watching game 3?

They're almost at the end of the second game of the doubleheader.

We have a series.

Goodnight folks...

Just about 3:30 AM. At my age I was at least hoping my Sox would make it worth staying up that late, but I didn't get that. All I got was my head feeling this morning like I drank heavily last night, when I didn't even have a drop!

My EARLY exit velocity (leaving the TV room) led to my launch angle (onto the bed)!

Is it possible to have more adventures on the basebath in one series of plays than Kinsler? Gets picked off but called safe, takes off on the very next pitch on a hit and run, overruns third and just manages to get back very awkwardly, then gets blown away by Bellinger trying to score on a short fly to center. He seemed determined to make an out.

A lot happened in the 18 inning game. I sat through the entire thing. Had no clue I had that kind of attention span.

I found it interesting that both teams scored their second runs due to bad throws to 1st base allowing the runner on 2nd to score.

Hoping Roberts does not start Kershaw in game 5 and if so, at the first sign of unraveling, that Roberts does not stick with his "ace" and pulls him. Think we have all seen it before where it gets bad pretty fast when Kershaw does not show up.

Of course he's going to start game 5, why wouldn't he? Or are you thinking Roberts might start him in Game 4 on short rest.

Why? For the multitude of reasons you have expressed on several threads about Clayton. Kershaw is unpredictable and the Dodgers have to sweep 3 at home. Roberts would never do it but he should use Kershaw as a long reliever in game 5 (and game 7 if there is one). If not then he must keep him on a short leash since Dodgers' run production has been light. It does not take long to see if Kershaw is on his game or not. I would not leave him in to see if he can dig his way out.

Yes he has had post-season problems but you cannot not start Clayton Kershaw.

The announcing is just as bad as ever, which means it is truly putrid. I watch the broadcast on mute while streaming WEEI out of Boston for sound. So much better.

And for Pete's sake, how in the world are the Dodgers in the Series and Vin Scully doesn't even get to call an inning? Unless I missed something, which is entirely possible...

you ride or die with kershaw, the only better option right now is buehler. i don't expect a good outcome with rich hill tonight.

...and if i didn't know better i'd think kinsler is an LA plant, he was determined not to let the dodgers lose if he can help it.

edit: dodgers reached out to scully but he wants to stay retired and didn't want to take the spotlight away from the team...always classy.

Oh I hear you but just because Roberts starts with him it does not mean he has to hang in there with him. We have seen him enough times get into jams that he cannot get out of. He needs to be pulled at the first sign of trouble. Dodgers cannot afford to fall behind early and hope to stay in it. Kershaw has the potential to be lights out but if that guy does not show up, don't care who he is, he has to be pulled.

Might think I am nuts but I cannot help but wonder if the Dodgers would be better off using several guys for a couple of innings in lieu of a starter.

Fascinating stat from last night's game:

The top four spots in the Red Sox batting order went 0-for-28. And that's never happened before in major league history.

Exactly Frank. Bullpen by committee. Just another evolution of the game, maybe.

Another record. Madsen lets 7/7 inherited runners score. Dave Roberts is clueless.

Abysmal managing. That's two straight pitchers in complete command Roberts has yanked. WTF.

Raise your hand if you believe that Rich Hill could have pitched a complete game giving up less than 9 runs.

I am rational and objective....but Kenley Jansen was the biggest factor costing the dodgers last year's world series and he's at it again this year. Just some of the most back breaking home runs given up. For all the slack Kershaw gets Kenley has been skating by under the radar, it's such a disappointment. We could've had a series....

Yeah for all that swagger and death stare and fierce delivery he has been awful.

I cannot believe Cora is starting Price over Sale. Maybe he is jealous of Roberts' bad moves and wants to catch up.

Based on what Roberts said Hill told him before Hill's final inning, I don't think either Roberts or Hill would have their hand raised...

I can see some logic to it, including avoiding Price in the cold weather, giving Sale extra rest, saving Sale for a better advantage in pitching matchups, etc. But the two biggest, perhaps, are that Cora has been pretty spot on with his decisions this post season and that the teams knows boatloads more than any of us.

This could be kershaw's last start as a dodgers, let's start something and bring it back to Boston. I'm still shell-shocked so not sure if the players will have any fight left.

Hard to disagree without being labeled as irrational and delusional.
