Default 1969 Topps Deckle Edge Set

Does anyone know why there are two # 11's ( Wilhelm & Wynn) and two # 22's ( Staub & Foy) ? I've never read anywhere why these two numbers have two players. Thanks

Hoyt Wilhelm was drafted by the Royals and then traded to the Angels. Rusty Staub was traded by the Astros to the Expos. Joe Foy replaced Wilhelm to have a Royal in the set and Jim Wynn replaced Staub to have an Astro in the set.

Makes sense. Thanks. Funny but in the set number wise, Wynn replaced Wilhelm and Foy replaced Staub. Wilhelm was with KC until 12-12-68 and Staub was with Astros until 1-22-69. Set must have been developed and produced very early and these 2 cards were not replaced until after a great deal of production since the Wynn and Foy cards seems to be a bit lower in quantities.

If you are a collector of the 69 Deckle Edge set you might be interested in these 68 Proof sheets. They each hold the same 9 players but in some cases in different locations and in all cases with different colored autos ( red, blue or black). Yastremski was the only player to make it into the issued set. Some of these sheets have been cut up and some individual cards graded as proofs. These may technically be prototypes rather than proofs

Man, I wish I could pick up some of these sheets without the downside of dealing with other collectors.

Says the guy who stands accused in post 80 of hoarding the Donruss 1987 Opening Day Barry Bonds error cards

And you never know when some other collector is going to cost you a bunch of money by bidding ridiculously high amounts on something you want

Sticking Wynn and Foy in there ruined the alphabetical sorting (by league) in the set too.

That is because they gave them the wrong numbers. Foy should have been 11 and Wynn 22.
