Default OT - Ty Cobb Uniform for a six year old

Gentlemen and ladies, I need your help.

My six year old first grader has informed me that his class is doing a wax museum of important people in American History. He told me that he wants to be Ty Cobb. Embracing that, I support him 10000000%, but am finding it hard to find a "uniform" for Ty Cobb for a kid.

If you can provide me any leads on grey wool pants/jerseys that I can doctor to make a Ty Cobb uniform, I would appreciate it. My hunting isn't finding anything.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

The most economic and simple method would be to get the current Tigers home uni, which should be easily available. The olde english D hasn't changed that much in 100 years and I would bet a 6 year old would be more comfortable in poly than wool flannel. I'm sure you would prefer as close to authentic as possible (wool flannel, etc). I would too. But for the sake of simplicity...

Good luck!

Chris

Default If you really want to do it right...

I play in a vintage league which wears 1800's style uni's. Baggy Wool authentic looking jerseys. I'm sure you could contact the people who make these types of uniforms and see if anybody makes a child size uniform. I imagine this won't be the cheapest or quickest way to go though and given your time and budget may not be an option.

Would look cool though...

The link above has some great photos of the uniforms the teams in our area wear.

I know they are very hard to find for adults............unless you can go $225 for a jersey (ouch!), so i can only imagine even tougher for kids. It may sound goofy, but what about a plain white or grey baseball (practice) jersey from a sporting goods store and you create your own 'D" logo and attach as desired. Most uni's from that era seem pretty plain. Good Luck! Keep us posted.

My son just had a wax museum project for his 5th grade class.

He was Ted Williams...and of course I supported it.

I did buy a Red Sox replica jersey on eBay, since I had a couple of weeks notice. Did not have any numbers nor names on the back.

Like a previous poster said...buy a Tigers jersey.

Default Halloween costume

I bought a halloween costume two years ago that was a vintage ball player. Maybe you can find one in a kids size.
