Default Jeter Game Issued(?) jersey, need expert help

I bought this 2003 Jeter BP jersey. Seller advertised as "Team Issued", but no COA.
In the listing, he has a photo of the wash tag. When I got it in hand, the tag is blank. Clearly not the same jersey.
When I asked, he said he knows what happened. He bought two of them from a guy, and assumed the second one was identical. So his pic in the listing must have been from the first one.

However, he also said the retail ones have the tag in the neck. I looked on eBay, and did indeed find that the retail ones do look like the tag is in the neck.
This tag is in the tail.

Does the location of the tag in the tail mean that it is team issued?
Is it reasonable that the tag got faded in the wash or something?

Thanks in advance for everyone's advice.

Full disclosure, I filed with eBay, and the return was accepted by the seller, so I can return it tomorrow.
But the more I thought about it, it occurred to me that I could get some opinions here.

Thanks,
Sean

Tags do get washed out, but without MLB Authentication or a Steiner COA, IMO its not worth keeping, especially for a player like Jeter who is far more likely to be faked. You'd have hard time re-selling if you decided to ever go that route.

Agreed

Take the Refund and start fresh on your hunt.
Better to be sure for peace of mind and for the resale of it

Thanks everyone! We worked it out. He offered a reasonable refund alternative.

I do not plan on selling it, I just thought it would look nice with my Jeter GU bat.
Maybe someday, I can afford a real Jeter jersey, but this will do for now.

Awesome. Can't believe I haven't seen a pic of them together yet.
