Picked up these plus some other commons for a total of 12 points. Raise my grand total to 95. Thanks.

Nice pickup Tony on the Sweeney, and all of the 3 cards are tougher one pointers. 100 points on the E-Scale is easily within striking distance.

I just posted in another thread a comparison of perceived scarcities/valuation of this E-Monster, both now, as seen in this Kraken thread, versus what is listed in a 1982 price guide.

https://www.net54baseball.com/showth...96#post1978796

Also of note, in that other thread I mention what cards I believe, if I were to redo the rankings as seen in this thread (I'm not going to!), would rank as '2' on the Kraken list.

I thought I'd contribute to this thread. I am really thinking about collecting this set again. To me the artwork is excellent and pretty much on par with T206's. The images have some great variety with different portraits and action shots.

The player selection is excellent, as a few of the major HOF's not in the T206 (or completely out of reach for most people..cough..wagner and plank..cough) are in here. Just one Cobb instead of four. The set is 120 cards vs 520.

The only really downside is it's an expensive set (at least for me) but, I suppose for somebody that wants to take their time and chip away at it and buy cards at the right price, it's an achievable set.

Just looking at this thread at some of the cards posted with the beautiful artwork has me debating to get back into this!

Brian, Add these cards plus one other common for 9 points to my number which should be 117. Thanks.

If I were to ever pick up the Walsh for my E90-1 collection, that would be exactly how I would imagine it would look like (which is fantastic in my eyes).

Default Keeping the Kraken alive!

Tony!
You are doing great on your Kraken quest!
Many of us have stalled out but you're still climbing.
I think the key is to drive up this hill in low gear.
I'd still like to get a couple more hits this year.
Way to go Tony!

The monster achievement by Ryan on the Monster thread inspired me to post a Kraken card on this thread so that folks who have been crackin' away on the set would post. Inquiring minds, such as Summers here, want to know your Kraken number.

Default Official mascot of this thread

Hopefully this collaboration thread , sharing your progress on collecting the greatest Caramel set will be inspired by the official announcement of the Seattle NHL franchise.
They will be known as The Kraken.

And we helped, I'm sure of it!

Thanks Brian for pointing out this great E90-1 news! I started this thread in November of 2017, and the 2018 Post It note, as mentioned in this article

https://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/...-became-kraken

makes if fairly clear that the world/Seattle/hockey nuts were following this thread.

Below is a list of the 1 point tougher commons/more popular Hof'ers that I believe could have been identified as 2 point cards, based upon their scarcity and popularity.

The list was culled from this post about E90-1 perceived scarcities over the years in another thread:

https://www.net54baseball.com/showth...96#post1978796

2 Frank Baker
2 Harry Bemis
2 Mordecai Brown
2 Wally Clement
2 Eddie Collins
2 Sam Crawford
2 George Davis
2 Ray Demmitt
2 Addie Joss (portrait)
2 Willie Keeler (portrait - pink)
2 Paddy O'Connor
2 Johhny Seigle
2 Jimmy Sheckard
2 Vic Willis

I thought y'all were joking. They named their team after this thread, or they really liked the 1981 1 star movie, "Clash of the Titans". Here's an e90-1 Fromme that I have. A tougher card, with a print anomaly going on on the left border.

Cool card...I don't remember ever seeing another border line like that in any set. Looks like that left border was taking evasive action against a Kraken swipe!

Nice Bradley Ted...definitely one of the better looking 1 point cards. I have updated your number assuming that each of the 5 cards you picked up are 1 pointers. If not, let me know.

Hi Brian

Indeed, this Bradley is one of the nicer looking cards in this set. You're correct, the number now is 129.

Hi Brian,

I've picked up another Fromme to replace the one that went to Brian but I don't know if you actually lowered my Kraken number at that time. So if you did lower my number, you can bump it back up one, but if you didn't lower it, please leave it as is. I just love the Fromme card for some reason so I'm super excited to have another one.

Still slowly crackin' at the Kraken here!

Thanks all,

AndyH

The blue uniform on the blue background is quite enticing, especially when set off against the striking green grass. The previous update to your number came in 2019 when you added a Fromme with two other cards, so your number shall remain the same until you take another leap into the deep blue Kraken sea.

Brian

Thanks to Tony B for the Leach (throwing) I am at #201.

I just picked up another e90-1 of Bob Groom with a really cool miscut showing the card adjacent to Bob. Picked up from another board member, thank you so much for the card.

It looks like it is possibly another Groom. Here is my adjacent pair, thanks to the tipsy printerman that worked on the Thomas card.

reviving this as I just got a Duffy off eBay at a decent best offer price - puts me at 172 with 10 cards left to go.

Updated Judson. My best advice to all is never be afraid to bump the Kraken, for the Kraken welcomes all and is always looking to munch on snack sized collectors.

Added this one to my set beginning. I think I've heard of him but we'll add a +5 to my number. That puts me at 17, I think.

Another Walsh whose scream of "I want to be in your collection!" eluded me. Nice pickup, and now a boost to 165 for you Anson.

Thanks to Jay (t206kid) on the BST I can check Ty Cobb of the list, which gets me to 177.
Nice pick up on the Walsh as well!

Cobb is always a great one to pull into the nest. Update duly noted!

I'm pleased to see the Kraken quests , which seemed to have slowed, are now showing signs of breath again..

Congrats on the Walsh and Cobb pickups to our Active Krakers!

I shorted myself on first count. I have the Sunset Miller which I only counted as a 1. Also added Bemis and O'Connor. So 4 more tentacles on my Kraken.

Kraken sighting reported so I went to have a look. He took me by surprise but I was able to get in some good swings and get four more hits on him before he snuck away to hide again, waiting for one of you to find him and try to slay him again...

Please add 4 points to my Kraken number with these four additions:

Keeler, pink background portrait
Tannehill, Jesse
Bransfield, P on Shirt
Donlin

The Fromme is a dupe that will try to find a new home with someone else in a trade some day. And the Bridwell is a E92 of course, but was part of the trade that netted me four of these cards.

Thanks,

Andy

Four points added, and I have declared 11/22/2020 as 'Bridwell as Honorary Kraken' day!

Nine more points for me after adding Clarke Pittsburgh, Keeler Pink, and Dougherty (here's a pic of the first two).

Up to 108/121 for the set.

Nice pickups Anson. You are working your way up to the Kraken's head.
