Default New Pele RC?

New listing on eBay for a 1957 Pele RC.

The only '57 I'd heard of before was the Balas Futebal from Brazil. This Olivera & Benassi is a new one for me. Anyone seen one of these before?

He's acting like he found a T206 Wagner.

I would price it between $5,000 - $10,000 USD.

Here is an album page I found on the Football Cartophilic Info Exchange:

Thanks for the photo, cool set.

Didn't really believe it was a 1/4 million dollar card. Would be interesting to see it in an auction. Can you confirm its from 57?

The problem with all these Brazilian "figurinhas" is that no dates were ever printed on the albums. The only way we can figure out the year for any issue is to see which players were on which teams. This obviously is a pretty time-consuming process. For example, if you see that Didi is wearing a Fluminense jersey, then you know the set was issued on or before 1956.

Other way around. A specific jersey means that the photo was taken no earlier than the first date on which he wore it. It says nothing about when the card was made from the photo.

Default Pelé 1958 German card pre-dates Heinerle Pelé "rookie" by 2 years

Comparing 1960 Heinerle card (German cards specialist Gerd Pasler dates it as 1960, not earlier) with an actual Pelé 1958 card, by a German coffee manufacturer. More on the b/w card in my next book on soccer cards, out end of 2020 www.footballsoccercards.com
