Default E78 values/scarcity

Hey guys,

I have had this E78 Sailor Burke for years. I recently noticed a handful of E78s on eBay with some rather high asking prices. I haven't really followed the issue before so I'm not familiar with them at all. Are they really scarce and/or valuable or are the ones on eBay just priced too high ($150 - 600 range)? I realize mine has three holes punched in it so the value is lower, but I was intrigued when I saw the ones on eBay.

Thanks,

Andy

Those look like bug holes. You see them often in cards from the Caribbean.

E78s are very tough to find, so I usually tell people if there is one you want in particular, pick it up when it comes up. Conversely, because they are so hard to find there are very few set collectors and the sales tend to be of popular boxers for those who pursue specific boxers' cards.

Thank you very much for responding Adam. It's nice to know they are scarce cards, but as you say, the more popular boxers are the ones folks buy so my Sailor Burke is likely not as desirable. Are the prices on eBay reasonable prices though?

The Buy It Now's up on eBay right now are extremely optimistic; I highly doubt any of them will sell. Prices tend to be all over the place a bit with these, due to the very limited availability fo the cards and the very small number of collectors.

If you want to sell, do it as a private deal - these can go cheap at auction if the handful of right people aren't buying at the moment. Very cool card!
