Default T205 Collector Input Sought

I have long been curious of and attracted to the T205 gold border cards. I'd like to add one to represent the set in my collection.

I was wondering if fans of the set or its key cards could weigh in for me, in terms of which is the key or keys to the set, and what characteristics one should seek out when after a standout example (i.e., full, unblemished borders, portrait focus, etc.)

My understanding thus far is that Cobb and Mathewson are two of the more major cards. I kind of have Cobb represented already, but if he is really "the" card in the set, could always add another Ty, I suppose.

Thanks.

Best,

Matt

Default As if Matty were on a Bender

Mathewson is a great choice, but it has been noted here before that this particular card is frequently seen out of focus.

I personally think the Cobb in the set is one of the absolute best looking cards in the hobby, especially when it has the "pop" factor.....

Sometimes cards, especially ones like the T205 Cobby, have super clarity, brightness and focus. Cards like that are said to "pop" because of their colors. It can refer to any card that, when you look at it, you go "wow!!".

MattyC,

Enclosed are some links that may help you from the set my son and I have completed.

Truly one of the most beautiful pre war tobacco sets out there today.

If it was me, I would buy a tough variation or short print. It seems like the Hall of Famers are always available at one time or another.

THE cards for the set are: Hoblitzell "No Stats", Wallace "One Line" and recently, Mathewson "37-1"

Thanks,

Matt

The Joss card is fantastic as well. I will probably do his and a Cobb, and one of those minor leaguers whose image strikes me. These seem like cards I'd want to select in person at The National, unless online scans were very high rez.
