Default Royal Desserts Stars of Baseball

I've been working on documenting this set for the last month, or so. As far as I can tell, all of the checklists on the internet are inaccurate and incomplete. I'm also trying to document which players are found with Blue Tint cards. I'd appreciate it if you could look over my 2 lists and let me know if you have any of the missing or incomplete data or images. So far, I've documented over 50 different cards.

Main list of 24 base cards and variations: http://five.pjdenterprises.com/royal_desserts_vars.pdf

Blue Tint cards documented so far: http://five.pjdenterprises.com/royal..._blue_tint.pdf

A note about Blue Tint cards you have would be great. A .jpg file of images I need would make me

Here is a scan of a pic of a very rare Sisler with the Cardinals. Its the only one I've ever seen.

Default 5 Sisler Cards

cardinalcollector, thank you so much. This would be the 5th Sisler card:

19a - Phillies - 1950
19b - Phillies - 1951
19c - Reds - 1952
19d - Reds - 1952
19e - Cardinals - 1952

Weird, Dick only played in 11 games for Cincinnati in 1952 yet he has 2 cards.

Default 3 Cards for Rojek

Thanks to Bob Richardson, we now have 3 different Rojek cards:

15a - Pirates - 1950/51
15b - Cardinals - 1951
15c - Browns - 1952

The text on the Cardinals and Browns cards are identical but the caps are definitely different.

I didn’t know there were two different Andy Pafko Cubs cards, now I have to find the one I have to see which one I need. I would be shocked if I have the rarer one.

I have a Blue Tint Pee Wee 2a. You'll have to wait on the scan however.

You’re right, I had no idea until this thread. There are three different Pafko Cubs, two different bios and a blue tint. Those will be fun to look for .

Default Latest Royal Stars of Baseball Checklist

Here’s my latest endeavor. Full card images of all but the missing 4 and the 2nd Pafko card, 6b. I’m hoping someone can send me a scan of that. I guess I’m pretty much finished. I’ll keep trying to figure out what’s what with the Ostrowski and the 3rd Trucks card. Let me know what you think of this. If you want a WORD copy of the checklist, let me know.

Default 1950 royal

Here are 3 photos to add to your list.

I do not believe, after 25 years + of looking, that Ostrowski White Sox exists. Think it was added to the book/list in error.

I am putting a set together of complete unopened boxes of the 24. Presently I have 21/24 missing only 3.....Ostrowski, Gordon and Fernandez for completion.

If anyone has these 3 in complete unopened form I have duplicates to trade 2 for 1.

Default Got 2 More Cards - Updated Checklist

Got 2 more cards from Alan. 7c and 21c.

Scarborough: is 14c with the White Sox or Red Sox?

Trucks: is there a 4th card with the Browns?

Here's an old article from the Nov. 1984 issue of Baseball Card News. I don't know it it helps or hurts at this point but it's a pretty neat read anyway. I know Royal had a set of Movie Stars and the like with similar convolutions, I don't think that one has had the checklist fully developed yet. They also issued Basketball, Hockey and Airplane sets-pretty prolific producer for a couple of years.

Dave, that solves at least one mystery for me - the teams associated with the Scarborough card. Senators-White Sox-White Sox-Red Sox. I'm going to study the article some more right now. Thank you for this!

Default Final Checklist

There are 3 players with substantial errors in the checklist that Dave showed us. You'll have to study my checklist to find them. I still need an image for the Scarborough 14c card, and better images for the Seminick 7c and the Trucks 21c cards.

Thank you all for helping me with this.

Just outstanding research Pete. thanks for sharing it--the full pictures and a number of "new" variations. I guess the search never stops.

Updated Blue Tint Card list. I think I'm done. Unless somebody comes up with an image of 14c.

Default Scarborough - White Sox

It's been 3 months since my last post. I still do not have an image for the 2nd Scarborough - White Sox card. The one with the 2nd paragraph ending "...after the close of the season." Somebody must have one! Please ask everyone you know who collects these things and see if we can come up with a suitable image. I'll come up with a reward from my vast array of baseball cards.

I found this doing a Google search - it is from the 2014 Baseball Card Variations Guide Book part II - says a Thomas Billing sent it in.

But this isn't the variaiton that was asked for. He wanted the one with the 2nd paragraph ending "...after the close of the season." That is not on the White Sox scan in the post.

I'm confused about the missing White Sox Ray Scarborough card. If the Red Sox Ray Scarborough card ends in the line "The Red Sox acquired his contract after the close of the season.", why would there be a White Sox Ray Scarborough card with the same line? Is it possible it is a typo and a White Sox Ray Scarborough card with the line "The Red Sox acquired his contract after the close of the season." doesn't exist?

Default Scarborough - White Sox / Red Sox

Cliff, if you look at the Rojek cards, the same thing happened. The text is identical on his Cardinals and Browns cards. They just changed the 'C' to a 'B' on Scarborough's cap, and kept the same text.

Jim, thanks for posting. My research tells me there were 4 different Scarborough cards - two with the White Sox. The 2nd White Sox card is the one image I don't have.

As the self-appointed keeper of the Royal Desserts Stars of Baseball checklist, I've decided that the 2nd Scarborough card with the White Sox does not exist. Anybody who wants a copy of my checklist, let me know: dluhop@optonline.net
