Ebay cancels requiring 120 day holiday returns
From Ebay:
I'm writing to let you know that eBay will not require extended holiday returns for your listings to earn Top Rated Plus benefits in November and December—including the 20% final value fee discount—as previously announced. Instead, you'll get a bonus 5% discount off final value fees—along with your current 20% discount—from November 1 through December 31 for all your eligible Top Rated Plus listings that offer extended holiday returns. Pleasant surprise. That new rule was very stupid. I still prefer to sell here first |

Oh, they'll find some other means of reinserting their heads into their tailpipes. It's eBay after all!

Ebay has to be the stupidest publicly owned company in the world. How could they not see that this was going to be a huge headache for the sellers..especially those who do consignment. Can you imagine selling something on consignment and then three months later it gets returned? I honestly do not know a single ebay seller who is happy with ebay.
I had my first return where I was required to pay return shipping..not surprisingly it was an LP record album that was dead mint. The guy said it didn't sound good on his "expensive turntable."...how do I know that the guy didn't just use me to record an album?

Hmmm...never thought about it, but yes, I guess that could be a headache for the consignment card sellers. Especially after the consignment checks and already been mailed (and a card has blown up the VCP average like the Aaron rookie PSA 8 did recently). Can you imagine the check being sent out for that card and then the card being returned??? NO WAY does that card get that price again!

I don't know how anyone can comfortably sell consignments on eBay. Even though they are not requiring the 120 day holiday return policy, I think I just read that items paid for with paypal can be refunded up to 6 months after the transaction? Thoughts?

Amazon is requiring a 90 day return for items sold starting november 1 - basically if you buy something on november 1 you have till the end of january to return it. Amazon really favors the buyers, the sellers be damned.
Ebay probably saw Amazon do this, and tried to do something similar - except they forgot 1 thing, they are not Amazon. Backfired in their faces. I agree, Ebay is simply lost, they do the stupidest things. My business (not baseball card related) no longer sells on ebay at all, though we do list a limited number of things on Amazon. |
