I think I saw that in a Hunt Auction not long ago...I forgot to bid on it .....there were several different backs to that type card and there were 6 in total, I believe.....(at least from what I have seen) I have blank backed ones too...this one is the same color but my scanner s/w messed up..They were talked about in an old "Old Judge" periodical...

A Triumvirate of holy grail postcards -thanks to a Net54 lurker

1908 Lincoln Railsplitters (Western League) future major leaguers pictured include Chief Johnson, Claude Hendrix, Ed Gagnier and Bill Davidson


c1915 Omaha Rourkes posing with Billy Sunday...I have only begun to research this one, but I think 1915 is a good date as Sunday came to Omaha and spent 4 months "cleaning up the town"...I also found a picture of the 1916 Omaha team and the uniforms were exactly like this.


1910 Nebraska Indians - This is the only specimen of this type I have ever seen.

This may seem crazy... But here is a link to a "theatre forum" and all they talk about is theatres! I found where someone is looking for info, photos, etc. on the Benn Theatre because it is going to be restored. You may contact this guy and get more info on your card or he may be interested in what you have? You never know.

I don't want to end up getting a big conversation started here in a pickup thread, but could use a little help from someone that is better at searching SGC's pop report than myself. I tried looking up the Benn Theatre issue and couldn't find anything, not even the Bishop above. Was hoping to see if any others had been graded..so if anyone is playing around on there and can find that information I certainly would appreciate an email on the subject! Thanks...

Ed, there is no connection to the Green's Heating and Plumbing. The owner of the team was Guy W. Green. He started the team basically the same day he graduated from UNL Law School...he operated them and the Lincoln Western League team for a few years and as far as I know after he sold the team to the Beltzer brothers around 1911 he moved to Kansas City and opened a law practice.

Nah. I'm just outside Dallas. But I saw you on the news this morning and it caught my eye. My wife has a cousin outside Lincoln (Eagle, maybe?) and I keep track of the weather there so I can rag on him.

Hmmm...maybe I know him? I went to school at Waverly and Eagle is in the Waverly school district.

There was no snow here though...it was all out West. Nebraska's a big enough state that it can be blizzard like conditions in the panhandle and here in Lincoln it can be a balmy 65 degrees.

While obviously not high-$ cards, I picked up the following at an Antique Show over the weekend and thought they were really neat. They were produced by "Merchant/Tailor" Frederick Schink of Brooklyn, NY around 1890 (the date is purely speculative--could be later, probably not much earlier). Anyways, they are each roughly the same size as N284 Buchner's.

indeed, I couldn't agree more! A very slick, centered Pafko!
and the registration ain't all bad, either.

And for the most part, it presents like a 6, if not a very weak 7, but at the price of a 4...which is very much more appropriate for my budget!
Honestly, from observing through the slab, I can't see the flaw that earned it a 4...I'm sure it's there, but if I can't see it, then it's just like a tree that falls in the woods when no one is around to hear it...

My first pickup in quite some time that I thought was worth sharing.
My next T206 will be shared, though, as it will represent the end of a long journey, once captured.

Sorry for the delayed response to your questions, I was on vacation this past week in Las Vegas and just returned home today. To answer your question, no pick-ups for me at the Hofstra show but a worthwhile visit nonetheless with a number of cards picked up from and submitted to SGC and a 10-card oversize order submitted to Beckett.
