Default Who WON'T you collect?

Here's another strange question: Is there certain players or teams you won't collect and for what reason? Personally, as a T206 collector and die-hard White Sox fan, I won't have any Cubs in my collection. I also don't want any of the "convicted" gamblers (Cicotte, Gandil, Chase etc.) in my collection. My 10 year old son who collects modern day stuff doesn't want any of the known roiders in with his cards. What are your feelings on this subject?

Default good question...

Well, I am your polar opposite, as I collect T-cards of my favorite team, ...The Cubs! and I will not tolerate any White Sox in the collection. at least not on purpose.

Other than the Southsiders, I don't find anyone really offensive enough to leave out deliberately...except for Robbie Alomar. Such disrespectful acts as the umpire spitting incident may be forgivable in my personal life, but not in a public persona where I try to uphold the fantasy that these athletes are to be admired for superior skills while on the field...

I am just the opposite. I will collect Cubs but hate the White Sox.

I am particularly fond of bad boys and collect a Hall of Shame with cards of Weaver and all of the Black Sox Eight.

The badder the better...Chase, Gedeon, Borton, Smith, Maggert, Zimmerman, Burns, Attell, etc etc

Steve Bilko --he wrecked havoc on my Hollywood Stars and I will never forgive him and I will never have his card near my collection.

I collect both the famous and the infamous - but nothing after 1960.

BTW, I love Steve Bilko!

Though I dislike the Cubs very much, I'm an equal opportunity collector. I won't reject a card based on personal feelings.

I won't collect B&W cards...think they are ugly.

Try very hard to stay away from SGC graded cards. Most of the time I will crack them out (using only my fingertips)..although I still have a few.

Timely post, Jason. As a life-long Jays fan, it absolutely *kills* me that Alomar was involved in this incident. Just thinking about it puts a pit in my stomach. That being said, I just finished reading 'Three Finger: The Mordecai Brown Story' a couple days ago and was shocked to read that Joe Tinker, while managing the Columbus Senators, was fined $100 for the exact same action.

As a Cardinal fan, I don't collect Cub cards....

although I do have a soft spot in my heart for 2 ex Cubs...

Brock and Sutter - Thanks for the World Series titles....

and will gladly collect them in a Cubby uniform.

We got Brock and Sutter, you got Leon (wickets) Durham.

Sorry.

Now we've even sent you our beer. That's got to hurt.

For a long time I would not collect Anson cards because he was such a racist. When I began collecting N28s, I gave in....

rumour has it Ty Cobb was a bad racist and an arrogant, ignorant ass....

I too, as a Jays fan, was so disappointed in Robbie Alomar, he used to be my fav Jay at the time.

For their current prices, all the Black Sox Players!

Overratted IMO especially the J. Jackson game cards & W514, and the Weaver cards, especially the common Obak.

Another example would be the extremely overrated Ten Thousand Obak card, its just as common as the others and he sucked.

But if I got a good deal on these ..... I would buy to flip

So overrated that you down-graded him to Ten Thousand?

Cheers,

I have all sorts of lowlifes represented in my collection. I have a Ben Chapman card in particular that I like. But for some reason, the story of Jeff Heath smashing the bat Home Run Brown used to hit the first homer run by an African-American in the A.L. in 1947 really offends me. In response, I have resisted picking up a card of Heath. Strangely enough, I have an old baseball signed by both Heath and Chapman ...
