Default Anyone remember a guy from Flemington NJ who took photos with players?

Hi Gang:

I recall seeing photos from the 50's and 60's of some man from Flemington, NJ having his photo taken with ball players with a satchel type bag on the ground in front of them with his name and Flemingon, NJ on the bag.

Does anyone recall his name and/or have photos to post?

My mind tells me his name was Jim Armstrong or something like that, but I lost my mind years ago and never found it, so I can't trust it any longer.

Hoping someone here can help.

Thanks

Your mind is correct.

I have a dozen or so pictures of Jim Armstrong with players, most are signed, but only one of them has his bag in the picture.

That's Hal Stowe who pitched 1 inning for the Yankees in 1960 to Mr. Armstrong's left.

Thanks guys. I was asking because I picked up the below and the bag was absent. I never saw Armstrong photos without the bag. Think this is him with Ashburn

Wonder how many pictures he took and never had a chance to catch up with the player after it was printed, to get autographed.

Doug, those are great!

But, is that really Jim Bouton? It doesn't look like the Jim Bouton who pitched for the Yankees in the 60s. In addition, that Jim Bouton didn't enter professional baseball until 1959 (at the age of 20) and played in the minors until 1962. The autograph is definitely Jim B-something. But I'm not sure it's Bouton.

Seeing those images amazed me and made me want to do a little digging....seems he had quite a collection.

From the South Falls Historical and Preservation News from Sept 2012

Sorry I'm late to this party. I have roughly 100 Armstrong photos, with a little more than a dozen unsigned (bummer the Hornsby one isn't!!) He has the bag displayed in a few, but not many that I have.

What I find odd is that I have several signed by him. Cool for me, but why did he do it?

If the Ashburn and Lavagetto are ever available for sale/trade, I'd love to have a shot at them.

Ken
