Default February Autograph Pickups

Added HOFer #290-Ross Youngs

Been over a year since I was able to add a new HOF autograph (not including new inductees). Spotted this baseball on eBay with a poor description. Not in the best shape, but tough to find him in any condition. The Hugh Jennings is in good shape also, although I know some people feel this is a clubhouse version.

January/February is a slow time for auction houses, not that surprised.

Hot damn, another rarity! Great pick up, I’m jealous as usual. I haven’t added an old name to my HOF collection for years now.

Edited to add: 290 is an incredible number!

Wayne-Glad to see you post again, hope all is well. Yeah, every new acquisition is SO TOUGH. Ignoring even the costs (which makes most cost prohibitive for me). I don't even see most of the guys I need-except Matty-even come to auction any more.

At least you're open to acquiring the rare and expensive autographs on team/multi-signed balls. So many people are unwilling to do this, which to me has always been their loss.

As a collector, I had no problem using a signed ball as a filler. Not ideal, but do you actually want to own certain autographs or not? Sometimes it's a matter of cost, sometimes rarity; usually both! Crossing that longstanding name off my want list mattered the most.

Actually, signed baseballs are my least favorite medium-very bulky and don't display well. I would only purchase a signed baseball for Youngs or Chesbro from the 1901 reunion. That said, signed baseball are making a major comeback amongst younger collectors.
