Default Can Anyone Identify This Cap?

In the mid-80s, I worked in a sports collectibles store and we purchased a group of game-used caps. The teams included the Yankees, Twins and two Indians caps. They appeared to have been used around 1961-63. I can't recall if there were any names or numbers in the caps, but we advertised them in Sports Collectors Digest and all sold rather quickly. Then there was this cap that we couldn't identify that came as part of the group. Has anyone ever seen this style of cap before?

The tag and the liner look like caps I have from the 70s and early 80s, but not the 60s. The Red Sox were experimenting with various styles of caps with more red during this time. This cap actually most closely resembles a 1997 Red Sox alternate cap, but that one doesn't have the "B" outlined. It could also be a minor league or college cap. I have a number of caps that I can't figure out what they are, and may never.

Chris,

Thank you. This came into Sports Fan-Attic in Fountain Valley, CA, Mark Christensen's old store around 1985-86 along with the other caps I mentioned. I placed the ad in Sports Collectors Digest to sell the caps, with the exception of this one as we couldn't identify it.

If you're determined to find out what it is, I'd start with looking up TCMA cards on eBay from the 1970s and 1980s, and other minor league card sets, and search by any city that starts with a "B". You won't have to bother with Buffalo or Burlington, since I checked them already. I wouldn't be surprised if it's in there somewhere.

Thank you, Chris. It'll be a project when I retire in a few years.

Thank you, about what timeframe? Maybe I won't wait for retirement after all!

I agree with Chris tag and liner say late 70's early 80's. So that narrows it down. And I also agree all the TCMA minor leauge issues provide a great research tool. Good luck it should only take a few nights to come up with your answer. If it is Bristol they were only Red sox from from 73 until 82.
