When did collecting cards stop being for the common collector and become an exorbitant, disgustingly, flamboyant lifestyle for the rich and famous?

Sweet freakin’ mother…. Yeah me and my ‘walking around 25k money’ are just gonna boogie over to the closest Topps application and hope for the best for a case.

This defines excessive stupidity on both the seller and the buyer.

For 25K, a damned case better yield me a buttload of sets….

B.T.

Not a card, but it fits.

I've never taken part in one of these events, but I've purchased cards from the year that featured Mike Trout. They are nice cards, and they are limited to the number of attendees or less in some cases. However, I'm sure I would never pay to actually attend. I suppose if you are able to sell off enough of the cards you get as part of the event you can help offset the cost. But you still have to pay for grading to get top dollar, so I doubt you could make back most of the original money paid.
